Sure, JWs can vote for some things, how to spend the money at the KH, i.e., CO expenses, choosing the color scheme for a remodel/new KH. Of course, no one is going to vote no for the CO expenses or ask any questions either. The color scheme is usually pushed ahead of time by the elders and their wives so everyone knows what to vote for that night.

Blondie:
You are so right. I sat in "special" meetings where the elders and ministerial servants planned the strategy of a vote in the congregation. They even directed who would "second" a proposal set forth to the congregation. The members had little or no voice in these matters that involved the congregation's money. Also, fear prevented anyone who was opposed from speaking up or voting "nay." It was all a complete farce!

Only if their non-JW husband makes them or they live in a country that makes voting mandatory. I was thinking of the US where voting is not mandatory.....yet. Some JWs vote with their pocketbook at the KH, as my husband says. If they don't like what is being done, some JWs never give a dime to the KH or worldwide. Of course, JWs now can serve on juries, that's voting. They also "mark" people personally, that's voting...woops judging. Elders vote for possible elders and MS....

I can't see what difference it would make . Elder is not really a station of authority but in the bible refers to older people . The overseer position is one that people volunteer for but after some scrutiny to the character of the person from outside the organization can be accepted . I don't know how they determine the gov. body of elders .

Voting will never happen. Why? Simple. It's because Jehovah's Holy Spirit does the picking and choosing these days.

I can agree and say this certainly happened with me -- this is correct
