I just recieved two emails to my private email box that LOOKED as if they might have come from Microsoft. THEY ARE VIRUSES!

FROM: "MS Corporation Security Division" <[email protected]>
TO: "Microsoft Corporation Consumer" <[email protected]>
    SUBJECT: Last Network Upgrade
    attachment: upgrade.exe

    and

FROM: "Microsoft Corporation Public Assistance" <[email protected]>
    TO: "MS Partner" <[email protected]>
    SUBJECT: Last Net Critical Pack
    attachment: installation825.exe

In both cases, the attachment scans POSITIVE for malware: Scan result: Virus Worm.Automat.AHB

Thanks for the heads up. We had one on our e-mail today that I figured didn't look authentic enough to be Microsoft.

    Microsoft never emails patches.

They must always be downloaded direct from their site.

    Microsoft never emails patches.

That's exactly why I knew it was fake.

just heads up for all AOL users,

lately a e-mail appearing to come from 1-800-flowers, is sent to many users. It says they have charged 32 long stem red roses to your AOL account method of billing. It says if this is not acurate, click here and then it asks u to enter user name and password. I ALMOST FELL FOR IT I have been on aol f or 7 yrs now and have seen a lot of scams. But they almost got me. I called the 1-800-flowers, which i have done business with before. They confirmed it was a scam. I also called aol and put it in tosreport. These guys are really clever. I am not a novice user, but b/c i have used t the 1-800-flowers before and it was being charged to my aol account, i almost fell for it .

    Be careful

I have also received similar scam emails claiming to be from eBay and Paypal requesting updated password information. I report these immediately, with full email headers, so they can be traced for prosecution.

    Thanks Jim, that's good advice.

Helps to trace these malicious perpetrators of such virulent computer viruses.

Thanks! I am wondering if anyone ever checked one of those "always trust microsoft" boxes after downloading would have any effect?

That uses certificates to ensure that the software does actually come from Microsoft, no one can fake these so you are quite safe.

I checked my email and I had them both. My antivirus program caught them before they did any harm.
