What is having the biggest impact on the watchtower Bible and tract society?

  Hi all.

  This is a reasonable question and would love to know what you think is having the biggest impact on Watchtower.

  There is so much going on right now. There is a plethora of websites talking negatively of watchtower. There are the never ending court cases regarding child abuse allegations. Australian Royal Commission (no need to explain). The charity comissions (UK) investigation into the organisations safeguarding policy, The blood issue. The Society's cruel shunning policy. The many YouTube channels highlighting Watchtowers MANY wrongs.

  So back to my original question. What is having the biggest impact on the Watchtower Bible and Tract SOCIETY?

  APATHY.

  (Not that I give a sh!t) -- haha
  

  Sure the internet info can awaken people, but most JWs are just burned out and don't care about anything anymore other than their social contacts in the "Church". The D2D ministry is virtually nonexistent. The cart witnessing is just to burn time and count hours. NO ONE CARES!

  The average JW misses meetings and Field Circus for any insignificant reason they can concoct. They'll pack the house for the CO visit, but the Hall is 50% empty the following week. (So much for encouragement.)

  They don't see it as a "life-saving work".

  They don't have any urgency.

  They don't really believe that Armageddon is imminent.

  They don't give a sh!t about doctrinal changes that make no sense. (Overlappy what?)

  Without the recruiting, their only growth is the fact that plenty of young JWs are having babies. Because they don't care that Armageddon "is right around the corner" either.

  No one cares what is said at assemblies or conventions (other than a few fanatic diehards). They drink all they want to drink. Many sneak away to out-of-town casinos or while on vacation. They watch "dirty" (R) movies.They had to drop porn as a reason to remove MS & Eldubs or there wouldn't be any left to serve.
  

  Shortage of MS and Eldubs? They don't care about that either.

  Contributions are drying up. Why? They don't care. (You can't fake contributions like you can fake hours).

  Internet which is airing watchtowers dirty laundry. There is to much information out there and it's to easy to find.

  I'd say it's the internet and social media that is having the biggest impact on the Watchtower. They are able to use it themselves and because of that, they have lost much of the magical mystique they once had over people by becoming too common place because of over exposure. Also there is a good chance that any JW who uses the internet, could at any time, run across information that could get the ball rolling in terms of opening their eyes.

  It sort of reminds me of the situation that Donald Trump is in. Certain groups are afraid of what he could "undo" in terms of strides that have been made toward "gay rights" "racial and gender equality" and "environmental" issues to name a few.

  Because of the internet and peoples ability to spread the word quickly it will be very difficult if not impossible for him to sneak anything by anyone or try to take things that were hard fought for, away from anyone. He has made himself too much of a commoner via all the media exposure he's had and his regular tweets. It's so easy now for the public to know what's going on to and spread the word.
  

  Gone are the days when the masses blindly accept what those in positions of authority, tell them to do. Anyone (other than born-ins) have no one to blame but themselves if they don't look at the JW teachings from all sides, before becoming involved with them.

  I believe its TIME, Time is having a big impact. With each year passing and still no sign of the big A, that was promised to come, in the life time of when our grand parents were alive.

  joe134cd. I agree, you have the ability to test the veracity of every Organization statement instantly at your fingertips.

  Plus, any Witness that tries researching outside of the Watchtower literature will eventually come across apostate websites, and out of curiosity (unless they're extremely strong willed), will find out things that might start them on the path out.

  I think it's money, or was money until they sold their HQ in Brooklyn and it's child abuse cases and the internet.

  I, along with many others here would probably still be sitting in the kh listening to mind numbing talks. If it wasn't for the the internet.
