    In my life, that was long, LONG time ago, but I do remember several things:

    Tweedy Blvd, and "Phil and Jim's". THAT was THE place to buy TVs and stereos at a great discount price. It was famous in those days. (Several hundred million years ago.)

    Let's not forget the "Chris and Pits" steak diners in that neighborhod. (Nearest one to Downey was North on Atlantic Ave. near or north of Maywood.) Sawdust on the floor. Great steaks, and great prices. Gawd, I miss that place!

    I also remember Cal Worthington having a Ford store on Firestone Blvd and sending out several hundred thousand commercials per day. That's where he got his start in the early-mid 1960's.

    Then I moved to Lynwood and everything went downhill from there.....

    Did Cal Worthington really move to Lynwood? He is still is in Long Beach (405 freeway and LB Blvd. or Atlantic)
