As we all know, The Lord Jehovah causes expectation to arise regarding certain dates. These expectations have usually resulted in the members of the Organization, erroneously, expecting the Apocalypse to arrive on those dates.

1914 was such a year. The church in its overenthusiasm expected Armaggedon that year, but God planned that Jesus would "return" and assume authority in the heavenlies instead.

1918 was another year when the membership, longing urgently to see their Lord, misinterpreted events and expected Armaggedon. But Gods foreordained intent in 1918 was to cause the sleeping saints to rise.

We all know about 1925 and the expectation that Moses and King David would move into positions of service once brought back to life after the Big A. But according to the 1938 "Organization" Watchtower articles THe Lord caused his Antitypical Temple to be inaugurated in that year.

Then of course there was the great expectation of 1975.....What great spiritual event occured in that year?

P.T. Barnums purported statement that "There's a sucker born every minute!"

I actually believe it was one of his competitors that said it, but it works.

Yes after 1975 came and went and nothing happened it was quietly dropped from the JW vocabulary. It was all those faithless brothers and sisters that made it all up, don't you know? Visit Smiley Central!

Red Witch I feel as you. What a deception to control the "herd." Sacrificing children is standard proceedure in cult based religions.

    INSIGHT BOOK #1 p. 772 Eve
When Adam was 130 years old, Eve gave birth to a son whom she called Seth, saying: “God has appointed another seed in place of Abel, because Cain killed him.” She could properly express herself as she did at the births of both Cain and Seth, since God had given her and Adam their reproductive powers, and because of God’s unmerited kindness in not putting her to death immediately when she transgressed His command, she had been able to give birth. With the birth of Seth the Genesis record concerning Eve comes to a close.—Ge 4:25; 5:3, 4.

    INSIGHT BOOK #2 p. 899 Seth
Seth: The son of Adam and Eve born when Adam was 130 years old.

So we read that Adam was "a hundred and thirty years" of age when he became father to Seth. (Aid To Bible Understanding, TWB&TS p. 277)

At the birth of her first son Cain, outside paradise, Eve exclaimed :"I have acquired a man with the aid of Jehovah ."(Gen .4 :1)Interestingly, Eve is the first one reported using God's name, indicating that the name Jehovah was known to the very first humans. Later she gave birth to Abel as well at to other sons and daughters .At the age of 130 another son was born to her .Eve called his name Seth, saying :"God has appointed another seed in place of Abel, because Cain killed him . (Aid To Bible Understanding, TWB&TS p.538)

6,000 Years Nearing Completion... The fact that fifty-four years of the period called the 'last days' have already gone by is highly significant. It means that only a few years, at most, remain before the corrupt system of things dominating the earth is destroyed by God. Today, many years later, we may ask, What does the phrase 'the immediate future' mean? How many years are 'a few years at most'? .. According to reliable Bible chronology, Adam and Eve were created in 4026 B.C.E..

    HI RF:

1975 marked the end of 6,000 years of human existence from the creation of Adam and Eve ... we were told in one of the Society's publications that we were already living in the 7th period of the 7th creative day, on borrowed time into the 1,000 years of Christ rule ... but due to Jehovah's great mercy, the door into the Spiritual Ark of God's organization was being held open a little longer to assist the final ingathering of the Great Crowd ... it was exciting after October 1975 as 1976 rolled around. Why, the end could not be but a few more weeks, gasp, gasp ... just a little longer ... and then 1977 arrived ... and then 1978 ... 1979 ... then 1980 ... the big blow-out at Bethel ... then, by George ... we move on into the 1990s ...

THEN ... We the readers were told we were reading too much into the magazines ... yep ... sure enough ... we were guilty of believing too seriously in the comic book religion of the Watchtower ... then ... 1994 arrived ... a full 80 years since 1914, the end of a mighty generation according to Pslam 90:10 ... the generation since 1914 was gone ... and that was almost 10 years ago now ... nearing 2004 ... and now,

... the biggest mystery I see is how the JWs still think that there is any purpose left to their religion, and how their little weakling Jehovah can still be called God? - Jim Whitney
