This letter and document appear to be for the UK. Is there a letter and new document for the US? Does anyone know or have a link to the docs? Thank you.

JWs should deflect as they are taught and tell the elders that they have a more comprehensive medical directive lodged with HC provider, lawyer and family. And they should make sure that they do. That one is kind of a joke on top of being a sinister control tactic, it is simplistic in a way that is incongruent with modern care. The hospital version of just refusing blood is many pages long in the U.S.. it is complicated and comes with a detailed account of what is being accepted and rejected. Advance directives allow for time and thought. The wtbts version is clearly another control technique.

Don't panic Captain Mainwaring. The Elders and HLC only have the power over you that you give them. Don't sign it. Don't talk to the elders about it. If they chase you at all it will be once or twice. Just tell them you'll sort it out. They will forget about it. Without this document the HLC can do bugger all.

It's not a bad idea to make your wishes clear in a document and conversation with your doctor but most elders don't have the time or inclination to keep track of who and who has not logged a blood card with them. Not only that but the fact the document is limited to so called primary components means loads of questions from old sisters about what they can and can't have. The elders will be glad of not being hassled by you

Remember as well this is only a document for the UK. Wording and mileage may differ elsewhere.

In the Uk, The advance decision must be voluntary - meaning you make an informed decision without harassment from anyone. It is only valid if a person has made a decision of their own accord. They cannot be pressured by family, friends etc. If you have been pressured into filling out the advance decision, then it is questionable whether the document you hold in your hand is valid. See NHS - Advance decision - online

I might add also. You can simply refuse to fill in the orgs advance decision and make up your own under NHS policy. You only need a piece of paper and a pen to jot down your wishes regarding refusal of trearments, and one witness to sign. It's your body, your life, your decision; Nobody elses
