In a way the WTS is trying to invalidate its past to validate itself today, the "This Generation from 1914" are all dead now, nothing happened as it was proclaimed in regards to the Great Tribulation etc.
The WTS has got a lot of doctrines it needs to flush down the toilette as a means to keep itself look viable as Jehovah's chosen ones.
The WTS is trying now as it has in many times to get rid of old irrelevant problematic doctrines as an intent to validate their self proposed image of being god's chosen ones (True worshipers) here on earth.
I see they have also done away with my favorite:

1919 is not dead that's the only lie they have to stand on.
Doctrine barely matters anymore. It was my motivation for leaving in 2000 but, with rare exceptions, I really don't believe any dubs under 40 could care about it.
Being a Jehovah's Witness is a community thing now, theirs is a social religion. Lip service is given to God and the Bible but these days they are just adornments.
Spot on Nicolaou! Specific doctrine matters very little nowadays to witnesses.....It's more of a community thing....
Ask the average witness to explain 1914/607 etc and they won't be able to!

One of main problems with the WTS./JWS religion is that the men who started this organization tried to establish and build itself upon contrived bullshit, not back by faithful adherence to the bible, particularly regarding when Jesus said no one knows of the time not even himself and he admonished his true followers to not make up a time on god's own sacred time. (1874, 1914 etc. )
