Which Bible Translation
Since the Bible was put together with fragments of writings all around the Levant I would say one can not get a good bible. Even the Bible says the original documents were destroyed. With that said you need access to several in order to compare and try to reach a conclusion. In the end the Bible is so much of a fraud there's really know way to come to any decent conclusion. You would better off finding the original writings the Bible stole its writings from, like the Emu Elish, sayings of Amenope, writings from Ugarit etc.
There is an English translation of the Old Testament called the Tanakh. It should be available from the Jewish Publication Society.
There is also an English translation of the Septuagint according to what I have read.
