SBF said ....."How utterly bizarre that the Study Watchtower continues to ignore the coronavirus."

I noticed that the study article for tomorrow 15th November is all about staying focussed on the ministry. How can they discuss that these days.? I accept that they won't want them to lose the idea but there is no mention of covid restrictions, after, what , 9 months of the pandemic. ...

    I dont understand.

The ministry any more is pretty lame, at least in the US. My pioneer-wife spends a couple of hours most days writing letters out in longhand that are then mailed along with a tract in the US Mail. That, or an equal amount of time looking up addresses on the internet and trying to match names to the addresses. A good 20-30% of the letters come back as undeliverable, since the addressee has moved.

The WTBTS up to this point in time has been functioning in pre-covid19 mode. It's taken Jah's chariot this long...nearly 10 to 12 months to catch-up by including comments about covid19 in the literature that the rank and file read!

It's pretty obvious that WT is way behind the times!

So much for 'food at the proper time'!🤣🤣🤣

    +100 on your observation.

It's increasingly jarring - the WT article yesterday had as its centerpiece how some random university student became a JW because she took "literature" from a cart to help her write an essay.

Carts have not been used for 8+ months now, and will not be used again for at least a year, maybe many years, if ever.

In some countries, even letter writing and phone "witnessing" are not being done due to data privacy laws. There is literally nothing for JWs to do to "preach", other than bother their unbelieving relatives by phone for the 40th time in 8 months.

The "most important work on earth" has ground to a virtual complete halt. Nazis couldn't do it, Communists couldn't do it, and the JW "literature" gloated over how that was "proof" that Jehovah was "blessing them".

Now a microscopic virus has this "vital" work completely paralyzed....yet they still write article after article as if it simply did not exist.

How utterly bizarre that the Study Watchtower continues to ignore the coronavirus. The January 2021 has a study on being anxious, without mentioning the virus at all? Or maybe I missed a reference! Because that’s unreal.

I've seen you post this a few times and I agree it is very strange...have they ever mentioned in great detail COVID in any of their publications yet?

The closest I have heard is the videos they put out where they talk about troubling times so hard to deal with, extraordinary times , dangerous times or some such claptrap

Perhaps, when the pandemic hit in Feb/Mar, they had 6+ months of Study articles lined up already and, thinking the pandemic might blow over by the summer, they decided just to go with what they’ve got rather than revise anything.

By the time it got to the Autumn they might have thought, if we start including references to the pandemic in study articles now, then perhaps normality will be returning just as the new articles start rolling out, and we'll look stupid for beginning to cover the pandemic just at the point it’s beginning to get better.,

“In for a penny, in for a pound”, they might just ride out the whole pandemic without ever addressing it at their main study meeting. “Food at the proper time”, indeed.

*Unless I’ve missed references to the pandemic in the Watchtower study articles, I confess I’ve not read them all. It just seems odd.

Actually, they had “new light” on that, and decided publishers are to begin writing letters at their own risk and liability. This instruction was delivered orally by the branch> circuits overseers> elders> publishers a few weeks ago, and letter writing is in full swing. Some JWs are even quoting the scripture “obey God as ruler rather than men”, quite remarkable happenings.

Magazines delayed...zoom meetings.....no assemblies....letter writing...none of it makes much of a difference to the main objective that JW's claim to have which is spreading the good news.

If the end of this system is dependent upon the "good news" being spread throughout the earth, a few well placed television, radio and internet ads could have the job done in a matter of hours. They could briefly tell people the gist of the message and where to learn more about it. The supposed end to mankind suffering could happen within the year.

Instead they're spending millions on building a state of the art video production facility to make cultish videos to sell to JW's. In the year 2020 JW's are still carrying on as if it's the 1950's writing letters one by one in longhand.

Spreading the message in a timely manner has never been their true objective.
