I know who it was because I was serving there when it happened. His name was Paul holmes.

Lostwun....when was that? I really do not remember a Paul Holmes. We had around 40 missionaries in the nineties in the DR but no Holmes.

Was it this Holmes? Than you are at the wrong religion 🤒

Where were you serving than Lostwun?

Fulano from the article in your OP you asked who was the JW needgreater who committed suicide in the DR. His name was paul holmes. It happened in 2014. I know because I was there. Those other links that you have just posted have nothing to do with the original article.

If your looking for more details pm me as I dont want to give out too much info on a public forum

OK, so he wasn't a missionary. Where did he live than?

This is a mute point but it would be of interest to see hm jw suffer from Bi-Polar disorder.

The 'black-dog' of depression that can follow one around is a dreadful thing to live with even with meds. As the wt has frequently denied the value of counsellors and physciatry then anyone who would truly benefit from modern medications' is wide open to finally being pushed over the edge. The death of this person is another tragedy that possibly could have been prevented. ( I express fully here I don't know the individual case)

Here is the link to the story if you know spanish. the Article incorrectly quotes him as age 43 but he was really only 36. Regards,

I just want to say, that if you are a lurker here and are going through depression because this religion you used to believe in is a sham but you feel stuck, your life WILL get better, your circumstances may change, or you just might mature and grow more courageous to finally live for yourself, but please don't feel like you are going to be stuck forever. It is better to break away, slowly or quickly, your choice, than to try to keep everything 'perfect' when in reality you know you are miserable. You can rebuild your life. You can seek therapy to survive what you're going through now until then. Don't give up!!!!

Thanks Lastwun. I already had read this article. He wasn't a missionary, otherwise I would have known him. Sad case nevertheless.
