Modern technology has made it easier for false prophet charlatans like the JWS to propagate their false teachings to the general public.

Satan didn't really have anything to do with that, education caused this to happen and didn't the WTS always demean higher education ?

The fact is the WTS once demeaned computers and their use back in the mid 1980's but once it was realized they could use computers and the inter net to their advantage , they jumped on board aggressively

Job is a humbling book showing how disaster draws strong believers closer to God

So you literally believe that God allowed Satan to kill all 10 of his children by collapsing his house on them and that his solution to replace them with 10 more, was a good one?

    What about poor Mrs.Job?

She had already given birth10 children and tragically lost them in the game God was playing with Satan. Then, after all she'd been through, was supposed recover from that trauma and be pregnant 10 more times.

Would this solution bring anyone closer to God?

    Come-on...really ???

    Good point Pete,

Its as if its a blessing to lose all 10 children and everything you own. Maybe Job lived long enough to have more kids and a good life but what about his kids, who weren't quite so lucky because of a bet between god and satan?

Here it is directly from My book of bible stories:

‘He is faithful,’ Satan argued, ‘because you bless him and he has many good things. But if you take these away, he will curse you.’

So Jehovah said: ‘Go ahead. Take them away. Do all the bad things you want to Job. We will see if he curses me. Only be sure that you do not kill him.’

Job’s wife despairs to see him so sick

First, Satan had men steal Job’s cattle and camels, and his sheep were killed. Then he killed his 10 sons and daughters in a storm. Next, Satan struck Job with this terrible sickness. Job suffered very much. That is why Job’s wife told him: ‘Curse God and die.’ But Job would not do it. Also, three false friends came and told him he had lived a bad life. But Job kept faithful.

This made Jehovah very happy, and afterward he blessed Job, as you can see in the picture. He healed him from his sickness. Job had 10 more beautiful children, and twice as many cattle, sheep and camels as he had before.

    Pete,

You guys Seem to miss the poetry in this masterful world litterature. JWs have their special dualist spin on this story tying it to the great argument about who we should follow Jehovah or Satan. But most people would see this story as an ahistorical reflection upon the life conditions we meet and the philosophical problem of evil. Why does evil befall good and the like thinking. Mrs Job or the children are not the point of the story, is the suffering of Job. Job knows that there is only one true God. It is not a contest or debate. Nor is sufferring a debateable subject. Suffering and God both exists to the believer. Therefore Job as the super believer and type of the humanity of Christ holds on to his faith in the One who has the power to restore
