But at least their focus on the Bible kept people in, made people respect them. Without that, ...well, for me it would have been easier to decide to leave.

for some reason it IS scary to me they are getting away from the Bible. It's just wrong. I know all along they've pulled scriptures here and there out of context and applied them to eachother...and you can make people believe anything doing that....but something about them neglecting it more and focusing on their rule system and reverence for themselves, is scary...more cult like than before.

Since its been realized by the GB that the past doctrines put out by the organization were false and there is a enormous amount of that information all over the Net., self promoting propaganda has to take pressing concern for the GB of the WTS.  The reason for JWtv. to be created as another example.

Luring in new converts and the exploitation of these people continues, so will the lies and  corruption.

"Why allow the bible to get in the way of our teachings?"

Im sure that is the mindset of the GB!

Yeah I know what you're saying. It's like when you meet a devout Christian, you don't necessarily agree with everything they believe, but you respect them for trying to live by certain standards. What standards do the GB answer to if they do not believe in the Bible anymore?

It certainly explains why things have escalated so quickly as of late. Blatant commercialism, empire building, fund seizure, fear-mongering, power-grabbing, etc.

At least we know what we now know. Oz isn't real. We can't control them, but we can control our future - a future out of the reach of these power-lusting sicko's.

The Watchtower would function quite swimmingly if the Bible contained just a couple hundred verses.

The other 1500 or so pages are little more than "irrelevant filler" for the WTS.

This is truly a religion for the stupid by the stupid. The only way one remains in this religion is if he remains stupid.

    Very true Crazyguy!

The use of tablets with the selected scriptures highlighted, certainly means that more and more witnesses are NEVER reading the context of any verse cited.

So, they just pick and choose a small number of verses, rather that study the bible in its entirety and context!

Finkelstein - "Luring in new converts and the exploitation of these people continues."

    I don't even think that's a priority, anymore.

They just want to motivate the hard-core loyalists and "encourage" everyone else to f**k off.
