So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

right, the moment you start speculating and publish your fantasies as wt does, you are guaranteed to be wrong. current example:

wt proclaimed that the anointed generation will pass to heaven at the onset of the great tribulation.-- guaranteed to be wrong, because jesus said they would pass only after everything predicted is done and over with.

like the kingdom song has it: "The kingdom is here, let it come let it come."

It also depends on how one is defining the return of Jesus. During Jesus first coming, he was only performing miracles and proving he was the Messiah to a few people. To the rest of the entire earth, they didn’t even know about him. And yet there he was resurrecting the dead in a prototype kingdom of God n the midst of all his enemies and nonbelievers. And to the entire earth he was nonexistent until the preaching work published the news of his work and God’s “plan” of salvation by means of the ransom. The point us thst he was present and alongside his Apostles and God accomplished his purpose wirh the rest of the world unawares. He was in their midst.

As we @ JW see it, Jesus second time around began not with his human birth but with the birth of the Messianic kingdom in the heavens and the ousting of Satan. This is his second coming ( parousia or return) or rather, the beginning of his second coming because he takes action: first in heaven and finally when he is revealed to his enemies until the end of the 1000 year reign. In the meantime, since 1914 he has been alongside those in his congregation and the preaching work.

    • And look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things…

    • 49That is how it will be in the conclusion of the system of things. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from among the righteous

It wouldn’t be fair if all of a sudden at anytime in human history without any hint or signs, Jesus shows up to judge and execute everybody. It makes more logical sense that during his parousia there is first a gathering of people for salvation and giving everyone on earth ample time to see him in their midst and with their mind’s eye and accept his kingship.

I think the WTS uses this:

@ Fisherman: Maybe the "two witnesses" (Rev. 11:3) and the angel flying in mid-heaven who's declaring good news to all the earth (Rev. 14:6) are going to provide what you suggest.

At least they won't stop preaching the good news because of a flu-type virus.

Hey, there were 88 proofs that Christ returned in 1874. You couldn't be a consecrated Christian if you didn't believe that Jesus returned in that year or if you didn't believe that Pastor Russell was the Faithful Slave.

The Watchtower organization had it all figured out. Now, it's October 1914. This time they have it right and if you don't believe it, you will be destroyed at Armageddon. Why? Because if you don't believe in 1914, you don't believe in in 1918 when Jesus rejected all the churches of Christendom and you don't believe in 1919 when Jesus appointed Rutherford and the WTS directors as his Faithful Slave. It's all in the Bible. Now those directors, who never knew they were so appointed, passed on this appointment, i.e., the ability to interpret the scriptures accurately, to all subsequent anointed Governing Body members.

All these Bible facts you must believe or you will be destroyed during the tribulation or at Armageddon for disbelieving in the Faithful Slave. Believe in the Faithful Slave. Come to Jehovah's Organization for salvation. If you don't believe in the Faithful Slave you cannot be a Christian, you cannot believe in God accurately enough, you cannot know Jehovah or His son, Jesus.

Obey the Faithful and Discreet Slave as you would the voice of God. -Watchtower, June 15, 1957

To have Jehovah's approval, we need to obey the faithful and discreet slave. -Watchtower (Simplified) Study Edition, July 15, 2011, page 27

    More on 1914 later

The GB has an addendum to Rutherford's speech in 1922. They want to rename it "dozens now living may never die."
