Sorry Hamas, that's orangutan. And don't forget there's no -tang in orangutan.

I am related somehow or other to the Duke of Bambra, or Bambraugh over across the pond, but I don't know how. I remember my grandfather signing away any claim he had to that dukedom when I was a little kid.

I am also related by marriage to Lewis Grizzard, comedy writer for the Atlanta Journal/Constitution.

Also to Henry Ford, though the skinflint didn't leave me any swag.

The farther back you go, the greater the odds that you are a descendent of someone. For someone alive today of English ancestry, the odds are that they are related to many of the medieval kings through multiple lineages.

    Isn't that what I said?

I doubt that the geneology can genuinely be traced back to kings

Simon, there are lots of documented genealogical records in the British Museum. One of my ancestors has a detailed genealogy that is there in the museum. I can trace directly to him, and his records go back to the Plantagnets. His name was Nicholas Stoughton. Our ancestors (on my Dad's side) were Quakers, and they kept detailed birth records, and genealogies. I have copies of very old Bible's going way back, and also handwritten genealogies. It is one of my passions, and I am learning to document the sources. I also have many cousins doing the same thing. There are tons and tons of records out there, but you have to dig for them.

    Richard Stockton

R evolutionary patriot; born in Princeton, N.J. He graduated from Princeton College (1748) and practiced law in New Jersey (1754--66). He was on the executive council for the province of New Jersey (1768--76). He served in the Continental Congress (1776) and signed the Declaration of Independence. Taken prisoner by Tories in late 1776, he was released after an imprisonment in New York, but the experience had broken his health. New Jersey placed his statue in the U.S. Capitol.

Simon, there really is a lot of information to be found out there, but you need to search really hard.
