Do Holidays Such as Father's Day Upset You?

As I posted on another thread by someone else I never realized it before yesterday but while searching for Fathers Day cards for my father in law...there were so many lovely cards with great sentiments that I wanted to buy to send my step dad who is still a JW. I thought of doing it and modifying the card so it did not say Happy Fathers Day.

The Society's stand on Father's Day is the same as Mother's Day. You can't celebrate "worldly" holidays.

Today, my son came over and woke me up. He wanted me and my wife to come to his house for lasagna and stuff. We went there to meet his wife's father for the first time, plus many of my son's neighbors. It was also a celebration of my grand son's second birthday.

Tomorrow, my son is taking me to a baseball game.

So, yes, I like father's day, and the one today is one of the best that I have experienced.

What upsets me is all the missed Father's Days. I sent my dad the first card from me to him today, and my husband received his first card today as well. He is a loving step-father to my daughter. She picked out a card for him before she left on a trip and thoughtfully wrote out a personal message for him. I gave it to him today. He was touched. She followed up with a phone call to him tonight.

my sperm donor is dead so that issue is dead too Actually I have barely spoken to him since I was 12 so this one doesn't bother me at all

the mother's day one - well she shuns me and I have comes to terms with that. It is no great loss - she wasn't much of a mother to begin with

so do these holidays bother me

Nope they don't bother me a bit infact its nice when my sons send me cards or call to say Happy Fathers day. Today I received not only a call from my oldest son but my niece and nephew called to say that I had been like a father to them and they wanted to wish me a Happy Fathers day. I felt Blessed for sure.

I like fathers day, it doesn't bother my conscience or bring any bad thoughts at all. My paternal daughter came down and gave me a present, my step daughter called,(she couldn't come down because her and her husband are sick with a virus) and she told me she loves me every day, not just on father's day and thanked me for being such a good dad. I can tell she means it from her heart. That made the day special. My step son also called to wish me a happy father's day. No Father's day didn't upset me at all, it made me feel loved and appreciated.

First, my father is a JW unrepentant child molester. My father-in-law is dead. We have no children. So father's day is a moot point.

But Happy Father's Day to all the dads that posted here.
