You know, I had almost forgotten until someone mentioned to me at a store I was shopping at.
I saw signs up all over, but never paid much attention to them. Most simply stated a SALE of some sort was going on.
Then I was approached by someone re: 'a gift for your father'.
It kind of knocked me a back, just a little. I was not offended, but I simply wanted to say 'no thanks' and move along. But salespersons and their pitches are paramount. It didn't take much to shut him down.
"My father is dead, sorry.....won't do me any good"
Of course the salesperson was speechless, but I was not being mean about it, but sometimes people need to remember there are those of us out there that don't have 'dads' any longer.
He apologized profusely, and I told him to simply 'not worry about it', I mean, how was he to know? I told him quietly, that it is not always necessary to be persistent with these things (sales pitches) because I was polite about it, someone else may have been completely different.
It's hard to believe, it has been more than a year and a half since my father passed away.
I really think about him alot, but this 'Fathers Day' thread, kind of brought it all back up again. No, I'm not sad or broken up about it, far from it honestly.
To those who have fathers whom are alive and well, and have a great relationship with them: I envy you.
When my father passed away, I did not shed a tear. (Long story)
Happy Fathers Day to those of you who have a loving and respectable Dad.
