I saw this post on EX-JW Reddit so I thought I'd bring here. Zoom service, what are your observations/opinions of it?

I don't go on Reddit or any other forums, so I won't see it.

I know what JW 'Ministry(tm)' is. I know what Zoom(tm) is.

I can't see it for '1st call(tm)' work(tm). I suppose it's a lazy option or useful to the cult if there is a fair distance between the 'householder(tm)' and the 'publisher(tm)'.

Door knocking has proven to bear poor results per hour, per victim dragged in to the cult. I can't see how Zoom would be any better. But at least you can sit there with no trousers on, I guess.

I can't quite envision it TBH.

Some of the redditers mentioned that its basically a group of JWs sitting around "writing letters" or making phone calls and gossiping.

Having done this very recently as I am a PIMO that seems to really be the case. JWism is pretty pathetic at this point, a shell of its former self.

Everything JW this day's is about socialising. Has nothing to do about saving lives or practising what you learn at meetings. That's why this organization Is not going anywhere. People just see it as social club. Have even heard from non JWs, that they think Kh are just places people go too mingle with each other.

XB - a group of JWs sitting around "writing letters"

    I have heard of this.

............and they use all their own money because the Organisation(tm) won't pay for a single thing.

Well, what do you expect from a greedy, corrupt Corporation(tm) that pretends to be a religion to get money?

It's something new, something for True Believers (TM) to get 'excited' about.

I can't see it becoming popular, TBH.

Where I live, there are JWs in the town centre, idly standing by carts. The carts ask people if they want a free Bible course, and direct them to JW,org. When people go on the website, it tells them to ask JWs for a study.

I think this is the way things will go, the street witnessing crap.

The irony is that the JW can 'count the time' for writing letters (quite ineffective actually, in reaching anyone), but if they do something in the community which actually helps people; volunteer in a soup kitchen, help orphans or widows with life tasks, etc. they can't count the time and are even discouraged from any such activity.

    So true...

The letters that JW's write have to be hand written, this means that it takes about an hour to write four letters compared with dozens or even hundreds per hour with a word processor. It doesn't do any good whatever, it just keeps the R&F busy and able to count time in the process.
