Please pass on my congratulations to your daughter, Xanthippe.

English Literature First Class Honours - that's fantastic!

I guess she's still letting it all sink in, but does she have plans for what she wants to do next? Career, or post-graduate study?

Whatever she decides, she's completed a great achievement and that deserves to be recognised. You must be very proud of her, too.

    Twenty-one.

Twenty-one - I think older students have a bit of an advantage over the 18 to 21 year olds straight from sixth form. They've lived a little, have developed a sense of perspective, have probably done more background reading, are possibly more likely to appreciate higher education, IMO.

So, for a 21 year old to achieve a first is excellent.

I wish her all the best with her studies and career.
