Just a comment on the Thread title, I notice that Christians were not encouraged to read the works of various Romans and others, who ridiculed and belittled the Christian Religion, and pointed out the flaws in it.
A bit like another certain Cult that we know too well, who forbid there members to research where they may, (will), come across similar lampooning , and more, those dreaded "Apostate Sites".
Wasn't it said in the literature that the Greek story of creation had a close resemblance with the bible when you use the books of Genesis and Peter for comparisons. I am referring to the fall of the titans being associated with the fallen angels of Genesis. Then Peter mentions their fate being the prison of Tartarus which is the same word used in the Greek story. It was a prison only for the gods.
