  Go to your local BOE and tell them you no longer want to be a JW, and see what happens.

  I think atomant may be referring to those of us who have so little interest in the JW beliefs and no close family or friends that being shunned is simply a none starter.

  Or a person who decides that they have been wasting their time as a JW and can move on.

  It's the family breakups....... being shunned by your own children or one's parents, marriages breaking up. Being old and alone
