It struck me today how the lyrics to Kingdom Song 81 "The Life Of A Pioneer" sound almost like a slave song from a plantation or something. What's also sad is, if you read, you'll notice that they sound not only like slaves, but slaves that are admittedly tired and worn out yet grateful to serve their Governing Body overseers master to prove their devotion to him.

    Very sad indeed.

    1. At the start of the day, with the sun yet to rise,

      We are making our way

with the sleep in our eyes, and we pray.

We are there with a smile for the people we meet.

Some may stop for a while,

some pass by on the street, but we stay.

      It’s the life that we choose;

      For Jehovah we live.

And whatever he asks, we will do.

      In the work we endure,

      Whether sunshine or rain.

It’s a way we can say ev’ry day: “I love you.”

    2. At the end of the day, with the sun sinking low,

      Feeling happy and tired,

in our heart there’s a glow, and we pray.

It’s a life that we love, always giving our best.

      And Jehovah we thank,

for by him we are blessed ev’ry day.

      For Jehovah we live.

And whatever he asks, we will do.

      In the work we endure,

      Whether sunshine or rain.

It’s a way we can say ev’ry day: “I love you.”

Yes, the song is based on Ecc 11:6 which is about planting seeds non-stop from morning to evening:

Sow your seed in the morning and do not let your hand rest until the evening; for you do not know which will have success, whether this one or that one, or whether they will both do well.

Free at last, free at last
I thank God I'm free at last
Free at last, free at last
I thank God I'm free at last

Way down yonder in the graveyard walk
I thank God I'm free at last
Me and my Jesus going to meet and talk
I thank God I'm free at last

On my knees when the light pass'd by
I thank God I'm free at last
Tho't my soul would rise and fly
I thank God I'm free at last

Some of these mornings, bright and fair
I thank God I'm free at last
Goin' meet King Jesus in the air
I thank God I'm free at last

    Wait, What??

I left in '06. This is a real song?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Ok, thanks for the laughs. Can't wait for this little diddy to be nominated for a Grammy....

This was specifically written for pioneer meetings. I can't imagine what the music arrangements are like. (disclaimer: I am NOT asking for the music to be posted.) So glad to be out of this sickness... This coming from a 12 year pioneer before I left.

No different from communism. Anyone that genuinely hates communism has a good reason to hate joke-hova, and you should not be wasting all day doing this type of rubbish that merely sucks other souls into this working to enslave the whole world. I would rather be regular working--at least that way, I can make some money.

And, I usually feel less tired after a day of regular work than after doing field circus or attending a big boasting session. This includes some rather heavy lifting, lifting cases that can weigh more than 20 kg and putting the stuff on shelves. Somehow I feel worse after just sitting at a big or grand boasting session or after doing several hours of field circus. This to me is a warning that joke-hova is using my energy to enslave the whole world every time I do a boasting session or field circus.

Also, did you notice the lyrics seem to be specifically for cart witnessing?:

We are there with a smile for the people we meet.

Some may stop for a while,

some pass by on the street, but we stay.

No mention of approaching anyone or calling on their homes

How bout a song bout ...

    The Death of a Pioneer.

This looks like a more depressing version of the old song "From House to House" But the new song is especially for those "privileged" to be pioneers and urges them to stay close to their carts.

    Great post PE!
Yes, the constant need to "ENDURE" proves the martyrdom-like mindset that JWs have!
It is so appalling that they don't see it!

Life is not something to be "enjoyed", but rather "endured"!
