Will the Chinese retaliate someday?

That’s all we need, to lose China’s economic friendship. Since the Chinese explained it was a friendly balloon, shouldn’t we expect the same from China?

from a non-American's perspective, the image the US is giving of itself is that of a people obsessed and scared of ghosts, unable to converse without resorting to threats or always having to bang his fist on the table... the world is tired of this

friendly balloons have flown around the world, over many countries, always requesting and getting permission to overfly the territory. Courtesy should have prompted the middle kingdom to abort, or inform the countries in the paths of this " run away's " long range track of their research vehicle.

Obviously, not all Chinese export comes in containers or on airfreight pallets. This is air fright.

nice try to create a precedent though, for later shooting down anything above the South China Sea ( west philippine area)

such balloons can be steered by the way, by lifting or lowering them into streams of air (jet or slower) that blow in the desired direction. Good guidance to scan Montana, Nebraska, the works.

I was thinking the same thing.

Two things to consider. In the book of Daniel it talks about the political system in the time of the end as made up of clay and iron. Symbolising that although they would cohabit together, they really wouldn’t mix. Parts of this world power would be strong and at the same time weak. As the poster above put it as “ lf is that of a people obsessed and scared of ghosts, unable to converse without resorting to threats or always having to bang his fist on the table.”

The 2nd point is that although they don’t like each other they are forced to climb into bed with each other. In order to keep a state of equilibrium. If it come down to China taking on America and it allies. I think America would show its steel like qualities. But for now they are joined together at the foot of the image of Daniels prophecy.

There's a lot hot air on this incident.

I doubt that this was a spy balloon, as flying even higher above the earth are spy satellites that can 'see' whatever is happening on the earth, in amazing detail. (check that out-you'll be amazed at what they can see)

The Chinese have some of those, and so does the USA (probably the majority of such satellites), so does it make sense to use balloons.

The best commentary on this incident that I've found, was an article in the Hongkong based Asia Times. Headed, " A Chinese Balloon Exposes an Amazing Vulnerability," the authors were Stephen and Shoshana Bryant (See below for who they are) and in the article claim that this balloon has been, "one of several over time."

Stephen Bryen is a senior fellow at the Center for Security Policy and the Yorktown Institute.

Shoshana Bryen is Editor of inFOCUS Quarterly. She has more than 30 years experience as an analyst of US defense policy and Middle East affairs, and has run programs and conferences with American military personnel in a variety of countries.

The Asia Times is own by some sort of syndicate, with the possible majority owner being David Goldman (a former NY Financier), who recently claimed that he voted for Donald Trump as president.

    Interesting article.

Curious why the Bryens don't seem to think the Patriot and THAAD systems are deployed in the continental U.S. or why they don't mention the most obvious reason for not bringing such a balloon down over a populated area, which would be the fear of a BW.

There was a recent commentary by a politician that it is the intention of China to mock the US with these balloons implying that the US in in decline.

Balloon was supposedly above Montana, the location of US ICBM.

...just when the MSM made us think that Mr Biden was in bed with the Chinese.

    You just never know!

Anyway, I have zero trust for our politicians. All filth!
