Almost sounds like the epic parties of Illinois circuit 7, Southern, IL. I was too much of a socially backward JW nerd to be invited, but those were reputed to be epic.

Committee hearings involving multiple congregations and circuits.

    That shut parties down.

I heard about the meetings years later at elders meetings and schools.

However, parties for the elite JWs continued. I used to volunteer to assist with prep and cleanup at the St. Louis Assembly Hall for the Annual Meeting held for the AH Commitee. Cases of alcohol were purchased and consumed, premium steaks and meals made by a JW chef. Loose lips. Very different side of those people.

Same for the Ministerial Training School graduation parties at the Assembly Hall. They tried to scale those back starting with the one I attended (62nd, 2002). Anthony Manera, one of the instructors, said it was inappropriate. Paul Illingworth, the other instructor, was able to get a scaled down, but still nice, celebration. My fellow students didn't know the difference, but I did, having volunteered at many previous schools.

Thankfully, I have been out since 2007. Say it together, "It's a cult.'

My wife is at a themed party tonight. I did some of the cooking for their event then absconded to the pub to drink with my evil heathen mates. ::D

And they wonder why there is no longer any youth left in the congregations. Cheers to that I say

It seems the wealthy operate with a different set of rules.

    Even in the Jehovah’s witnesses.
