The BBC isn't even covering this story - it's merely publishing the front page of a newspaper which is! Why not BBC?

LOL. The BBC has just posted this - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-52171694

    Hypocrite in action - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-scotland-52006730/coronavirus-dr-catherine-calderwood-issues-warning-over-infection-rate

This hypocrite should be prosecuted for ignoring the lockdown which everyone else has to obey, for breaking the law which prohibits unnecessary travel, and tomorrow morning she should be sacked from her privileged position which is now untenable!

It's time for people to waken up!

She actually put nobody at increased risk. They travelled as a family group, stayed overnight to check on their second home and travelled back as a family group.

The problem is that most of us are being forced to follow a 'rules-are-rules' approach rather than being allowed to apply common sense - an uncommon commodity. She allowed herself the privilege of using her own considerable knowledge and judgement.

That inconsistency has probably made her position untenable.

The instructions are if you have a reasonable excuse ,to visit a 2nd home is not .

She could have had a accident and then put a strain on the emergency services NHS etc.

She could make a sizable donation to NHS from her sizable salary (if she can afford a second home,)

She could have asked the local police to check that her home was ok .

@ Cofty - no ordinary citizen in the UK is allowed to apply common sense. They are ordered by law to obey draconian "emergency laws". Roads to beaches on the west coast of Scotland have been sealed off to stop people driving to and walking on them. Lunacy from those "in power." - not common sense!

Heathrow Airport & London buses & tube-trains are not sealed off to passengers. The propaganda & narrative are starting to smell.

If Nicola Sturgeon does not receive and announce Mrs. Calderwood's "voluntary" resignation tomorrow morning, the First Minister of Scotland could face an unpleasant public & media backlash.

I'll be surprised (and disgusted) if Scotland's Chief Medical Officer hasn't cleared her desk by noon tomorrow.

It gets even more pathetic and unacceptable as the "authorities" try to cover her back!

The Scottish police have "spoken to her". https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-52171694

Anyone else would have been instantly fined £30 for not having a valid reason for breaking the lockdown law.

    Digging the hole deeper!

According to The Scotsman she visited her holiday home in Fife two weekends in a row. Once with her whole family and the second time with her husband.

no ordinary citizen in the UK is allowed to apply common sense

And Trump gets bitched about not mandating a Marshall Law policy in all US States when he'd rather rely on the "common sense" of Governors &/or US Citizens.

Damned if you do. Damned if you don't.

It doesn't matter about the reality of what risks are involved, at a fundamental level she was telling people not to do something that she herself was then repeatedly doing.

She should go immediately. You can't have people not setting an example if it's genuinely important that people follow these rules. And if it isn't really important to follow them, then she should go for making stupid rules.

Either way, she has no business being paid to tell people what to do, there is no trust or authority to back it up.

The hole gets deeper: The First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon states twice that the Chief Medical Officer "made a mistake."! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-scotland-52097221

She did not make a mistake! On successive weekends, she deliberately and premeditatedly broke the laws which she has been force-feeding to the Scottish people sanctimoniously from her TV podium, alongside the First Minister - who has now shot herself in the foot by declaring that the hypocrite can keep her job!

How silly Ms. Sturgeon - many who have made sacrifices will not forget this act of cronyism.
