Forgiving AND forgetting

    Tex, I agree that there is always so much pressure to "just move on" and "deal with it." In religion I think the pressure is about control. They say "God demands" that you forget. But I keep reading the word forgive while the "holier than thou's" quote about forgiving. I don't forget hurts because they HURT dammit! And I also have learned the hard way that when I just let hurting people "get away with it" they do it again. It seems that if others can force/bully you into "just letting it go" then forgiviness and responsiblility are irrelevant. And then the hurt just sits inside you. To me it seems that people are to passive. The person who refuses to be a doormat is labeled as bad while the transgresser is just ignored. But, hey thats me.
