I've been looking over the talk outlines for the 201t convention and I came across this in the baptism talk
GO ON THE OFFENSIVE AGAINST PARALYZING FEAR (7 min.)
[Read 1 Peter 3:6, and focus on the expression “continue doing good
and do not give in to fear”]
To me a blaring example of using part of a scripture to make it seem like it's saying something it's not.
If you look at it in the bible this is part of the admonition Paul was giving wives and has nothing to do with anything in this talk.
5 For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, 6 like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear. (NIV)
I know it's not anything new that they do this.
Just thought I'd throw it out there.
