Why are taxi firms still operating during a "deadly pandemic?"

I was shopping yesterday and saw taxi after taxi picking people & their shopping up at the supermarket. None of the drivers or any of the passengers wore masks or gloves, nor did they keep any distance from each other - in or out of the car.

The drivers all helped to load the bags into the boots/trunks of their cars.Taxi-drivers must be seriously at risk of catching/spreading Covid 19..

Because life goes on. As far as symptoms and mortality go, this is the normal flu under a different name, and people can't just stop their lives or even worse livelihood to avoid catching a cold.

Normal flu does not attack all the major organs in the body then for some caues strokes later on after you have recovered. Still Totally ADD

Um, no, you've just been led to believe that. "Normal" flu can cause inflammation and organ damage, and can increase odds of a stroke by up to 40% for a year afterwards. Except in most cases it doesn't, just like covid19.

@ nbd - Life is not going on - it has been suspended, but when it returns, "they" are going to renogotiate past freedoms for future "safety." Just wait & see. This pandemic "event" has induced mass-hysteria & mass-paranoia.

Certainly it's killing people in large numbers - but so does the 'flu, and cancers even more so!

@ sta - For whatever reasons, no autopsies (AFAIK!) have been carried out on so-called healthy people who have died, but allegedly had no known underlying health conditions!

As standard protocol, surely an autopsy has to be carried out to establish whether there was a serious comorbidity issue with a "healthy indidual." Quincy would be raging at the lackadaisical attitudes.

I'm talking about in the case of the taxis you just mentioned. During this 'stay at home' period most jobs are still considered "essential services", and most people staying at home are those who would be at risk from the flu anyway and would get a vaccine like they always do if they could: older people.

Same reason the public transport never closed for the homeless in NYC. Political interest.

This whole lock down is done to control people, to destroy the economy and to implement socialist ideals on redistribution of wealth, government income etc

The largest vectors of disease in NYC and LA are not only allowed to roam the streets but hospitals have to accept them and provide housing for them.

Private hospitals are on the verge of collapse if not bankrupt already, because lockdown policy without reimbursement. This is the largest government takeover of health providers, private business and public policy in US history.

The only reason we've been able to respond better than both Europe and South Korea is being destroyed, better testing per capita, better death rates per capita, better infection rates per capita and the leftists government is pursuing policies that were in place in NYC - the only place in the world where the disease is the worst - because failed government and failed government healthcare facilities.

in the usa no man is over another. everybody is free to travel and to own property. all these "orders" are not lawful. that's why the government can't enforce them.

staying at home in a lockdown is voluntary.

btw corona virus is way deadlier than flu...

and it increases your probabilities to die, even if only 1 person in one million would die of coronavirus

That's a simplistic way of looking at it. Yes, the numbers are higher but not the PERCENTAGES, that's what it's all about. Also, symptoms and affected demographics remain the same.
