  Girls as young as nine are “physically and spiritually” ready for marriage, a Malaysian MP says, also claiming there’s “nothing wrong” with females marrying their rapists. It comes after Malaysia failed to criminalize child marriage in a recent law. “They reach puberty at the age of nine or 12. And at that time, their body is already akin to them being 18 years old. So physically and spiritually, it is not a barrier for the girl to marry,” Shabudin Yahaya, a member of the Barisan Nasional Coalition, told Parliament on Tuesday, as quoted by Reuters.

  He went on to say there is “nothing wrong” with a rape victim marrying the man who raped her, as doing so would allow her to avoid a “bleak future."

  “Perhaps through marriage they can lead a healthier, better life. And the person who was raped does not necessarily have a bleak future. She will have a husband, at least, and this could serve as a remedy to growing social problems,”

This posed special problems for molestation cases in which the child victim was the only witness.
  

  The minimum age of marriage is 18 years for men and 16 years for women. Muslim women younger than 16 years may marry with the approval of a sharia court. The country’s Sharia Judiciary Department reported 10,270 child marriage applications from 2005 to 2015. In some cases authorities treated early marriage as a solution to statutory rape. In June [2016] a court in Sarawak State acquitted a man of statutory rape after he married the 14-year-old victim. The government prosecutor was appealing the decision.

  Under the law the minimum age for consensual, noncommercial sex is 16 years for both boys and girls.

  It's nice to see that 9 year olds have finally won the right to marry. Another victory in humanity's march towards equality!

  I think by 'rape' they meant 'statutory rape' so if, for example, a man were to have consensual sex with a 12 year old, he would have to marry her. In a culture where female virginity is a prerequisite for marriage, this actually makes a lot of sense. Of course, it would make more sense to have hymens surgically removed shortly after birth, but whatcha gonna do?

  hate to disappoint you, but it is terrible only because it is not mentioned that the approval is depending on that the girl has had the FGM procedure, without anesthesia .

  This is what awaits you infidels when the islamic conquest aka "integration" is complete. Pay attention voters.
