If we are further away from perfection, why are we more moral?

As we know, Witnesses teach that Adam and Eve were perfect and then committed the first act of sin and rebellion.

They in turn were cursed, and we all declined as their offspring. Humans supposedly lived shorter and shorter lives, and became more imperfect and sinful.

The further away in time humans go then, they should be getting worse.

So why is it then that as a society, humans have actually improved in so many ways?

Bible times and the Middle Ages were terrible times to live! Life was cheap and readily taken. Human rights were non existent.

For instance, in bible times, women and girls were simply property to be abused as men wished. Even Gods nation could fight the neighboring lands and take the women and virgins off as captives for their "use".

We rightly find such conduct deplorable nowadays!

Also, people could be brutally stoned to death for disobeying some sort of (often petty) rule.

We find that also deplorable today!

So why have we improved as a society even though we are now so "far from perfection"?

The world is a much safer, kinder, more moral and ethical place than it has been for thousands of years. We have human rights, animal rights, gay rights, women and children's rights.

The JWs don't see it like that at all. The world is a dark, wicked place to them full of disgusting sexual practices - people living with and loving who they want to love.

Greed, materialism and selfishness - people going to college, getting good jobs so they can live in a nice house, eat healthy food and travel around this lovely planet.

Ungodliness, puffed up with pride - people reading and studying whatever they want. Realising they don't need a religion to tell them how to be decent people, looking after their fellow humans. Thousands of charities and NGOs supported by millions of people who want to make the world a better place.

JWs just need to take of their dark glasses and see this lovely world that is full of good people trying to make a difference.

For the most part, the world is no longer divided into Kings and serfs. The so called "common" people have a say in the way they live their lives, and as there are more moral people than not, life has gradually gotten better.

The day of the all supreme tyrant is fading away, albeit not fast enough.

    Very good point.

The JWs certainly present a very skewed view of "The World", and anybody growing up solely under the influence of their propaganda would come with a similarly skewed outlook on things.

Instead, a lot of credit needs to go to such phases as the Age of Reason / Age of Enlightenment, and to scientific acheivements such as the "Green Revolution."

But the world is getting worse. As you mentioned:

For instance, in bible times, women and girls were simply property to be abused as men wished. Even Gods nation could fight the neighboring lands and take the women and virgins off as captives for their "use".

But now days most of the world has departed from these godly standards and recognized women as the equals to men; soon even children will be given civil rights! Homosexuals are no longer stoned or even imprisoned in the US and EU, but are actually protected by special laws. What's next? Rights for pedophiles and zoophiles? Should chimps and gorillas be recognized as people since, as godless darwinists like me assert, they are our cousins?

Make no mistake about it: humans are becoming worse and worse every day. We are departing further and further from the divine plan. Soon our father below will storm the Heavens, slaughter God and his Angels and finally put an end to His abortive creation.

    Zasass Zasass Azerate. Hail Satan!

My two cents: we develop as a society because that's what human beings are about. I used the word "develop". I'm not sure from what angle one can look at humanity in general and see "improvement". We have advances, conveniences, technology, better means and know-how on things that we never did before, but as society we are (IMO) not that great in terms of "improvement".

That said, we're definitely better that Adam and Eve for the simple fact that we actually exist and they never did.

I guess that once written ancient mythology of mankind once being perfect is just fictional story telling and not the truth .

Reality backed by solid evidence always bitch slaps fictional mythology inherently derived from human ignorance.

Humanity is leaps and bounds better today in comparison to ancient civilizations in regards to social self awareness and empathetic respect toward humanity, nevertheless so we still have to approve on some matters.
