I think what the press conference will be is some sort of date, probably two weeks in the future will be set for Saddam to step down or something and then at that date when he hasn't, "official" action will take place.

    What a wild day .....

The WH had to just quell rumours that the dubya's "pr" tonight was all about the capture of Osma ....

Then there is the confirmed 3,000 US military "heavies" that are moving through Turkey (already approved before the Turkish vote) to the border with Iraq. This is not part of the 62,000 troops siting off shore.

And there is some rumour ... not sure if it is confirmed that there was an explosion around an Iraqis oil refinery/oil field.

    Gee ...

And now MSNBC just announced W is not having his speech next week. It will be at 7pm CST tonight!

Rumours are still going round and round about the OBL angle and the WH is still trying to slow down that rumour mill.

    What a day

    Look at this bad boy.........

The Air Force is testing a new 21,000-pound precision-guided bunker buster that would be delivered by B-2 Spirit bombers. The bombs haven’t been deployed yet, but they could be rushed into the field in the event of war. Like its predecessor, the Daisy-Cutter, its blast would create a huge mushroom cloud and could be used for it's shock value, dropped well away from any populated areas.

    C151d,

My understanding is that the USAF WILL be using the Iraqis battlefield for testing of the MOAD. Very scarey bomb but my understanding was they would drop it out of a C-130 Hercules flown at very high altitude. I still say the "E" bomb is more impressive.

Rumours are still flying about OBL capture and this news conference and the cancellation of other events. WH is not out in front on this rumour mill and can't stop it. There are even some reports that intel agents are refusing to confirm or deny the rumour to media. WH has to get this stuff under control.

My goodness this rumour mill is really out of control today ...

.... Osama Bin Laden NOT in custody but capture is close (ABC News). ABC news feed and radio reporting intelligence sources are saying that OBL in NOT in custody but that capture is close, possibly even imminent.

Can the WH stop these rumours ... hmm ...

And now Fox news is reporting there have been 2 operations already today to try and pick up OBL in the Pakistan/Iran border area.

Man what is going on today.

Over here in Ozzie land on the morning television they interviewed an English dude who specialises in political/war strategies he stated that he expects the American/English alliance to announce that they have proof that there are hidden weapons and that Saddam is not complying at all. He also said that he expects Bush to declare something like "the security counsel is not working, to hell with this, we are going to take of it by force". This guy reckons that there will be significant moves within the next 48 hours and that we might expect full on strikes within two weeks.

A friend of mine has a niece whose husband is in the army in Kuwait. He called his wife last night and was sobbing. He couldn't tell her anything specific, about timing, but was pretty much telling her goodbye. He doesn't expect to survive to come home. It's all so senseless.

    Ain't that the truth!

Large demos are taking place here in Oz but our PM is unmoved and our Opposition isn't landing a punch!
