The Whore of Babylon

Visiting a few JW/xJW forums lately, I'm reminded of phrases that have been never been brought to mind for 25 years. (King of the North, Jonadabs, etc, etc.) I got to thinking again about that infamous old harlot, Babylon the Great.

It's based on the age-old JW idea that the harlot is the "world empire of false religion" but especially Christendom, and that beast (rooted in the U.N.) who finally turns on her. The prediction goes that the neutral JWs will be left because they are right, and the Beast, who can't stand to see JWs still standing, finally goes after JWs with a vengeance. But the JWs, of course, get supernatural protection which is the immediate precursor to Armageddon.

This may have very little to do with the image in Revelation, but if the harlot is Christendom, how does she get paid? Obviously, she is paid by 404(b), 170(c) or 501(c) type tax breaks that religions and charities get when they apply for non-profit filing status. The problem is that JWs also ask for this same harlot's wage for services rendered. But JWs don't put out. I mean, they rarely give anything charitable back to the nations. They don't build hospitals, run blood drives, give clothing to the poor, or give out toys for tots at Christmas time. They might have therefore rightly expected that the Beast-as-the-John of Revelation might just turn on JWs since JWs won't turn tricks for the John.

But now the JWs have opened up a Public Relations department and a couple of PR websites and begun to brag, left and right, about the fact that they've started putting out a bit more to everyone, and not to just "especially to those in the faith." And thanks to their own horns and printing presses, their left hand most assuredly knows what their right hand is doing. See the recent thread:

Are Jehovah's Witnesses Becoming More Outreach Minded?

However, if they start giving back to the community just like the rest of the Whore of Babylon, how do they ever expect the Beast to turn on them? Even with all the pressure so far this year, the United-Nations-as-Beast won't even turn its animal instincts against the decidedly unsexy Muslim religion in the original land of Babylon (Iraq), much less the freshest member of the Greater Babylon from Greater Brooklyn in its own back yard.

The JWs once played the feisty and ornery "bitch" especially under Rutherford, which nearly fed right into the hands of a self-fulfilled prophecy. But now they've turned a bit "sexier" with their new "public relations" (no pun intended, or course). Methinks, paybacks not a bitch anymore.

Slowly but surely the Witness organization has gotten undressed. Theyve got some lipstick and rouge on already and are just applying the perfume so they smell nice. They are down to their intimate underware and heading towards the bed.Their eyes are closing in surrender. Pretty soon they will be on their backs with their legs open just like the rest.

    refiners fire,

LOL. What an image!! Not that it ever made sense anyway, but what do the JWs figure makes them any more likely to stand out as so different from the other religions if the UN were actually to outlaw religion. How plausible does that old JW scenario sound to anyone today?

Hi Gamaliel, pleased to meet you.

Very interesting analogy you posted. It certainly 'begs the question' doesn't it?

rr: you have a way with words (LOL), loved your reply.

As for the UN scenario: I doubt it'll ever happen. As it is, they are a rather ineffectual bunch it seems.

I believe that Hell, Michigan will freeze over, at least once a year than any of that JW nonsense that they recycle endlessly. (no offense to my Michigan neighbours)

The whore of Babylon may take on a new meaning: some brothel on Long Island, NY. and its inhabitants, no scriptural fulfillment, just personal.

"Personal Fulfillment" in Babylon, Long Island, New York? Yes I think I saw that ad in Newsday or the Long Island Voice. Some escort service if I recall correctly. ((()))

BTW, I ride the Babylon Line of the LIRR daily and, in fact, the U.N. momentarily rides me, or nearly so, twice a day when we push through a dark tunnel just a few blocks down south of the U.N. Plaza.

(Come to think of it, the WTS has actually used trains to fulfill prophecy before.)

I never thought about it that way. What make the JW's any different than the rest of them? They are registered with the government just like all the others are. They recieve benefits from the government just like the others do. The only difference is that they don't give the benefits back to the community. They horde it all for themselves. So they are profiting from the governemt for being a religion. They are recieving a paycheck from the Beast. Which means that they WORK for the Beast. They are in league together. If they were truely neutral to the governments of the world then they would not be registered with them and they would refuse any special treatment from them. Because they don't means they will fall just like the others, according to their own screwed up proffecy.
