What do you expect?

One of my very distant cousins sent this to me today. I know it's corny, but I liked it anyway. (all you atheists, can ignore this)

The man whispered, "God, speak to me,"
    and a meadowlark sang.

But, the man did not hear.

So the man yelled, "God, speak to me,"
and the thunder rolled across the sky.

But, the man did not listen.

The man looked around and said, "God let me see you."
    And a star shined brightly.

But the man did not see.

And, the man shouted, "God show me a miracle."
    And, a life was born.

But, the man did not notice.

So, the man cried out in despair,
"Touch me God, and let me know you are there."
Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man.

But, the man brushed the butterfly away ... and walked on.

I found this to be a great reminder that God is always around us
in the little and simple things that we take for granted ...

even in our electronic age... so I would like to add one more:

The man cried, "God, I need your help!"
And an e-mail arrived reaching out
    with good news and encouragement.

But, the man deleted it and continued crying ...

Don't miss out on a blessing because it isn't
packaged the way that you expect.

Shhh....Don't tell anyone I replied, OK? I really enjoyed it.

This is something we all need to do....even my present circumstances are turning out to be a blessing.....I expect in a few years to be very happy for my present tribulations.

Nice food for thought, Mulan. I couldn't help but be reminded of the story of a man who, while leaning over a great precipice, trying to get a better view of the canyon far below, lost his footing and fell. While falling through the air he cried aout, "Oh dear God, please help me! Save me! I promise I'll live a better life and never offend you again! Please God, please save me!" Just an instant before he hit the bottom of the canyon, his suspenders got caught on a limb projecting out from the canyon wall. His fall was broken and as the limb bent down, he was gently let down to the ground. As he gained his footing on solid ground and wiped the sweat from his brow, he looked up to the heavens and said, "Never mind God! A tree saved me!"

    Mulan,

I also had this delightful "story" sent to me by my sister awhile back. I really like the message it sends, because it's so true. Thanks for posting it here.

Even when we pray, or ask in all earnestness for good things, sometimes we don't even realize when we get an answer. This is because we look at everything from the human perspective. Our father/mother of the universe knows whats best for us. They know the beginning and the end.

Meditation is so good because it helps us to take the time to "see god", "to feel god", to "hear god", in ways that we would have let slip by.
