I love Pink Floyd. I have the remasterd DVD of "The Wall". Awesome.

Hard to say my favorite. I really like "Learning to Fly" but I can't remember if that was after Roger Waters left the band or not.

    Learning to Fly

Into the distance, a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back
A flight of fancy on a windswept field
    Standing alone my senses reeled
A fatal attraction holding me fast, how
Can I escape this irresistible grasp?
Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted Just an earth-bound misfit, I

Ice is forming on the tips of my wings
Unheeded warnings, I thought I thought of everything
No navigator to guide my way home
Unladened, empty and turned to stone
A soul in tension that's learning to fly
Condition grounded but determined to try
Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I

Above the planet on a wing and a prayer,
My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air,
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light
Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night
There's no sensation to compare with this
Suspended animation, A state of bliss
Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I

    Mackin.

    Mackin,

Great choice! "Learning to Fly" is one of my all time favorites. I like to go to the park at night and swing with that song playing in my headphones.

    Thanks for posting.

I am a slight fan, I just wrote this out without looking it up. Guess it might have to do with listening to the wall about a million times, plus one.

    So ya
    Thought ya
    Might like to
    Go to the show.
To feel that warm thrill of confusion,
    That space cadet glow.
I've got some bad news for you sunshine,
Pink isn't well, he stayed back at the hotel
And they sent us along as a surrogate band
We're gonna find out where you folks really stand.

Are there any queers in the theater tonight?
Get them up against the wall!
There's one in the spotlight, he don't look right to me,
Get him up against the wall!
    That one looks Jewish!
    And that one's a coon!
Who let all of this riff-raff into the room?
    There's one smoking a joint,
    And another with spots!
    If I had my way,
I'd have all of you shot!

I have listened to Floyd since I was a teen.....Saw them during the Division Bell tour, that was a cool show except the guy behind me would not shut up the whole time, he kept screaming at the top of his lungs, "have a cigar! Play Have a cigar!" and they never did, I was hoping they would to shut him up! LOL! Good show, great band, too many good songs to name a favorite but I dont think anyone mentioned this one yet, it has become more menaingful to me in recent years................. peace-Lauren

Time"Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then the one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in the relative way, but you're older
And shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desparation in the English way
The time is gone the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

I only the Syd Barret era Pink Floyd, I think Peter Gabriel era Genesis were easily Pink Floyd's match during the 70's!

    Lauralisa,

I can't imagine how I could have gotten this far either. There is so much energy and passion to their performances. In my opinion, they are generals in the rock and roll army.

    Thank you for posting. (((((Hugs))))

    Julien,

Another great band. Thanks for posting.

    LOL, Whyhideit,

I went through so many The Wall LPs before I converted to CD.

he kept screaming at the top of his lungs, "have a cigar! Play Have a cigar!" and they never did, I was hoping they would to shut him up! LOL!

    LOL, Lauren,

That's a great story. The fans do go crazy, don't they. Heh, I saw Roger Waters in concert a few years ago. He actually told people to shut up at one point. He was trying to get a message across about Kosovo and people kept cheering. It angered the man because he wanted the audience to think about what was going on over there.

Thanks for sharing your concert story and the lyrics to "Time", another one of my favs. It makes me look forward to the next concert.

I only the Syd Barret era Pink Floyd

    Dim,

Thanks for mentioning Roger "Syd" Barret, one of the founding members of Pink Floyd. Here is a link in case anybody wants to learn more about this musician: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Stage/2607/

    Love FLOYD!!!!

Sheila, the next time Pink Floyd or Roger Waters comes to Kansas City for a concert, let's go see them. It will be fun. The guys will love it too. Thanks for posting.
