I think that Focus makes a valid point re ejections, and that some sort of short-term "yellow card" system could be invoked. This would mean that only the most determined-to-be-banned poster would keep on aggravating to the point of ejection. Maybe a deletion could automatically reverse itself after a set period?

Also, if a short-term suspension system were to be adopted, the poster would be more likely to cool down and desist from causing mayhem elsewhere.

I agree with Valis about the loss of Jan H. A brilliant poster true, and I miss his stuff as much as anyone. However, he has nothing to lose now, so he really goes for the throats of JWD members on occasions. Having said that I couldn't have endured his sniping for as long as Simon did, so maybe a different method of handling people like Jan is called for. Academic types can get pretty minty if they feel that they aren't being give the respect that they deserve.

If it doesn't bother the posters concerned it certainly doesn't bother me if people don't post here anymore. If I want to read stuff from JanH and others that aren't here anymore I'll just go to the forums that they post in now.

Most of the people you mentioned are my friends. I spoke with Tina, AlanF, Uncle Bruce and Mommie Dark just recently. I just got a nice card and letter from Uncle Bruce. He's as nice as people can be even though he speaks a foreign language which I can't understand at all!

I also spoken with Norm, Kent and Ginny. I have JanH's number and will speak with him when I have the sheckles to do so. JanH is the person who inspired me to learn formal logic some years ago and for that I am forever in his debt.

I've also spent considerable time speaking with Maximus who needs all of our love and support now. He's not doing well.

I spent a Christmas with Gedanken and stayed at his home after my father's funeral.

YK did me a nice favor about three years ago! Yep! I'm sure that if I had the chance to meet him, we'd get along just fine. (If we don't meet in October of any given year, when Armageddon is SURE to happen!)

I know who Seeker is, and would love to make his company at some time.

I know and have met the man who is Friend's friend. He knows who friend is and has told me that Friend considers me to be like a son to him. If you knew what I know about Friend, you wouldn't be such an asshole with your opinions about him, Focus.

There are countless others who I've spoken with and a whole bunch of people who I've met personally and spent time with. I would go the mile for any and all of them and many of them have already gone the mile for me.

Some day (and that day may never come) you may decide to shuck your paranoia of anonymity, get real, come out, and get to meet with and talk to some of the people I've talked to and met with.

You would be the better for it. These are great people.

My short list of people I'd love to meet in person consists of: Englishman, Simon, Casselines, Wassasister, Undecided, Mommie Dark...... Shit. I'd like to meet ALL of you folks! It is so much better to interact in the 3-D world. No post, not even the best post possible is anywhere near as neat as speaking with and meeting with the real deal.

me too, Farkel??? ......I would hope so. You are probably the BIGGEST reason why people on this board stay interested. Thank you for being who you are. And even when you get a little (or a lot ) testy at times, you still are a person that I appreciate. I hope you have a healthy and rewarding life.....btw, please convey to Maximus that we miss him.
