    Hi All,

This is a picture of my dad and me having fun on the Smith river near Martinsville Va. He built the boat. The motor was a Johnson with a super charger. He loved life and having fun, too bad he died at 45 yrs old.

    Hi Undecided,

Thanks for sharing your photo. Was your dad born around 1925? Just wondering. The scalloped edges of the photo of the both of you looks like some older family photos I have, that were taken in the fifties.

I think you look like your dad. Sorry you lost him at such a young age.

Ken, that is a great picture. I have no pictures of me and my Dad together and very few memories of him not drunk. Mine too died early, at age 54.

Thanks for sharing it and hang on to those old memories and pictures.

I can't see it, Ken. All I get is "Image not found". Did you take it back down?

    Hi Sentinel,

He was born in 1909. The picture was taken about 1944. He built the boat in the old house my grandparents had lived in in the early 1900s. It's still there but about to fall down. A few years ago I went over and took a video of the old homeplace.

    Ken:

Your Dad looked happy there on that boat of his. Sorry you lost him so young.

My Dad lived for the time when he was on the water. Any water. Ocean, lake, canal, you name it, my Dad was an avid boater and fisherman. At his funeral, I made a memory board filled with pictures like yours showing my Dad doing what he loved. Thanks for digging up some great fishing and boating memories with my Dad.

Francios, he traded it for an Evinrude, 4 cyl a little later. We did have an old 2HP single cyl that we used on boats we rented to go fishing at Norfolk Va. back in the late 40s. Fishing was great back then. I went to a class reunion a while back and one of the guys there had that old 2hp. but he wouldn't part with it. We had a great time when I was young as a family. Being a JW back then wasn't so restricting, we really enjoyed our life together.
