Sorry to break the news, but Mel Gibson was born in New York State. He does say he is Australian, but he was born American.

    My thought

My favorite Australian is the Gallah.

No-nonsense. Cheeky and bold. Yep. That sums it up. Uncle Bruce comes up a distant second.

Paul Hogan ain't so bad. He sells crocodile movies and Subarus. Anyone who does that ain't all bad.

In fact, I can't think of ANY Australian I don't like, with VERY few exceptions.

God made Australians to like and it's not hard to do that.

My Favourite Australian is my niece. I'd love to post a pic of her, cos she's such a cutie, but for privacy reasons I won't. But if it wasn't for her, I probably wouldn't bother being around, so in some ways I owe her my life.

As for Greatest Australian, I'd have to go with Gough Whitlam.

Captain Schmideo got it right. The only great Australians are criminals: Macarthur, Ned Kelly, Ben Hall, Captain Thunderbolt, Chopper Read, Roger Rogerson and Neddy Smith. The others are just pretenders.
