suffering, especially suffering during the last moments of life, has a special place in God's saving plan; it is in fact a sharing in Christ's passion and a union with the redeeming sacrifice which He offered in obedience to the Father's will.

    Isn't that disgusting?

It explains the way Mother Teresa received countless millions from donors and yet her appalling houses of death lacked the most basic nursing or medical supplies.

Ah, I am reminded of one of my 'lessons learned in therapy'. This is not a specific example of how faith can be dangerous, more than a generalization that makes a lot of sense.

When a person has a strong belief in a faith, it excludes the possibilities. In other words, faith in one concept precludes the supposition that the possibilities are ENDLESS!

So, I choose my beliefs carefully ... they are few and far between.

In support of the fact that religion purposely and knowingly would prefer and allow a person to suffer horrible slow deaths to terminal illness rather than a humane death by euthanasia:

According to Christian teaching, however, suffering, especially suffering during the last moments of life, has a special place in God's saving plan; it is in fact a sharing in Christ's passion and a union with the redeeming sacrifice which He offered in obedience to the Father's will.

    Why battle against faith?

"By faith Abraham, when he was tested, as good as offered up Isaac, and the man that had gladly received the promises attempted to offer up [his] only-begotten [son]," - Hebrews 11:17

As the above text clearly shows, faith can be a very dangerous thing.

Religious people use faith to deny facts, logic, reason and even their basic built-in conscience. Isn't faith the underlying reason why JWs let themselves and their children die rather than accepting lifesaving blood transfusions? Isn't faith the underlying reason why a JW will fight his basic humanity by shunning his own flesh and blood over a changed religious opinion?

A world with religious zealots who value faith above what is demonstrably true and above the basic proddings of conscience, can be a very dangerous place! Even the bible unwittingly acknowledges this:

"In fact, the hour is coming when everyone that kills YOU will imagine he has rendered a sacred service to God" - John 16:2

Faith is the root of confidence (literally) and trust. If you trust statistics and that proof results are accurate then your belief is based on faith that there was no shenanigans in the compilation of data used to prove a point as true to one's satisfaction.
