Some of you know I've run a little webpage highlighting the end times beliefs of a certain mainstream evangelist. He had a lot of whacky ideas, including two that Dubs might recognise: the Great Pyramid as a prophetic calendar and the six thousand years since Creation being "days" to the Lord, the seventh "day" being the Millennium. He died last week in England, bringing my website to a halt (at some future date...). I've written an article about him that I'm wondering about. What do you think - fair, or a bit rough?

I'm not sure I understand your reference, Haereticus - are you talking about his claims that AIDS can be cured by bubbling ozone through the blood (cf. some early Watchtower medical beliefs) or that Mad Cow Disease and Foot and Mouth were deliberately created plagues in the UK?

By the way, I think a copy of Barry's book would be a perfect birthday gift for YouKnow.

You're right, Nathan. YK always reminded me of Barry, with his ever increasing cycles of making wrong predictions but claiming victory anyway! LOL

I was just a little worried for the sake of Barry's family - I got a huge number of hits on my site yesterday, obviously due to the fact that news of Barry's death is getting out. Most of those hits are bound to be from Barry sympathisers, so eventually Barry's surviving family will find out about what I've been saying; I didn't want to be too nasty for their sakes.

However, now that Barry is gone, all those things I wanted to say but couldn't due to defamation law can be said - you can't defame the dead under current defamation law. Barry has been an intellectual thorn in my side for over 20 years; you might say I feel towards him the way Farkel feels towards that other great dead setter of dates, Freddie Franz!

But has he not trained a son, or a favoured lieutenant to continue on his good work? So youll still be able to hound the bounders never fear! Go give the right wing militia movement a whirl, lots of fun to be had there, digging up gun caches at midnight by torchlight, whispering in the loungeroom so that the ASIO organizations bugs cant pick up your words, scanning the bedrooms for concealed miniature cameras. There's still a bit of mileage in Barry, while people still remember him in the lead up to his funeral on July 11, RF. And you're right, there may emerge someone else, either an apprentice or ghost writer, to carry on the cause. In the meantime, here is an extract from the latest Barry article I'm working on. It is some of his collected wisdom:

Final Notice, p. 92 : "Statement! Nuclear devices CANNOT be detonated at any place at any time. Position and timing are essential." On p. 93: "The actual detonation (of a nuclear device) is brought about by the GEOMETRIC SPATIAL RELATIONSHIP of the sun's and the earth's position at a precise moment of time."

Final Notice, p. 120 (on curing AIDS): "Ozone (introduced into the blood) overcomes the AIDS virus by a fundamentally different process than usually attempted with drugs. Instead of burdening the liver and immune system with more elaborate toxic substances, ozone simply oxidises the molecules in the shell of the virus, rendering it incapable of spreading. It also oxygenates the blood to a greater degree than is usuaaly reached, what with poor air and sluggish breathing habits - this does not normally happen."

Second Warning, p. 182 (on a new doomsday weapon which supposedly exists): "The question may now be asked, when Israel receives access to this super weapon, will they use it against any aggressors, and quieten down the whole world scene.
Answer - they won't until the communist invasion, for the following reasons: Once brought into use, this factor weapon will alter the whole earth's time cycle, by a factor of 7. The whole economy and lifestyle will therefore be changed right around the world."

Second Warning, p. 183 (on the aftermath of the above battle): "The Israelis will not need to cut down wood out of their vast forests at all for a period of seven years.
They will burn the weapons and stores belonging to their enemies. The Russians, by the way, in their efforts to avoid heat seeking missiles and those attracted by metal are using a Dutch invention "lignostone" in much of their weaponry. It is as hard as metal, yet it burns like coal."

Second Warning, p. 187 (on William Branham's visions of 1933): "Vision No. 5: The moral problem. Women get the vote. Cut hair. Wear men's clothes, then stripped off to a fig leaf apron. Terrible perversion resulted.
"Vision No. 6: A woman rose up to run America. (In my opinion this has happened already in America as in many cases the husbands are controlled by the wives. This is not God's plan for the Christian family.)"

Second Warning, pp. 205-206 (on "Women's Lib"): "The interesting thing is, the longer women indulge in this Wicca lifestyle, in trying to move into masculine territory, scientists and others are alarmed to note that many of these women are experiencing (a) Lowering of the voice (b) Male gestures and habits (c) The growing of added hair on the face and body."

Actually steph, I got this little pet theory about prophetic cult leaders dying of "disaapointment" when their time lines expire.

Russell died 2 years after his final dates fizzed, And Miller, the advent prophet died 2 and a half years after the final October 1844 "disappointment".

Maybe Bazza went the same way?

You're thinking exactly how I'm thinking, RF! I too noticed the Barry, Chuck and Bill correlation - was going to mention it, but forgot to... John Thomas, founder of the Christadelphians, also subscribed to Miller's 1844 date and died in 1847.

Here're some more Barry snippets to keep you on the edge of your seat:
