One stupid thing though. Before the June 15, 2000 WT was published, it was illegal to use hemoglobin based products.

Yeah its on pages 68, 70 and 71.
The sad thing is they don't really explain some of the serious problems and the likelihood that these products will NOT receive FDA approval. Go to thestreet.com and search "biopure".

Actually, to the best of my knowledge it has been the military medical community that has driven research for a synthetic alternative to whole blood. The reason, NO REFRIGIRATION needed to keep it.
