In MLMs you never focus on growth being negative, using "slanted charts" left sided or right your allowed to fake people out without asking questions. Nobody like's a loser, that's why the Watchtower must inflate growth for if they don't, publishers would start to do less. Here's some examples:
The Watchtower claims we have growth in hours to 9.3 per Publisher per month each year. The mental set of each JW desiring personal notice target's 9.3+ and if they hit 10 hours their ahead of the National Average and .4 Bible Studies, 13 RVs.
2. The Watchtower come's out with the real numbers, people are only spending 5 hours preaching(after you back out all useless work, drinking the $5 or $6 mocha's from Starbucks while doing nothing). How would that effect everyone's personal target for Field Service? The true numbers come in at .1 Bible studies:
1 Bible Study to 10 JW Publishers
2 Return Visits instead of inflating the same person over and over, we witnesses people going to the same person 2 or 3 times in one day looking for a person they heard took a tract.
The new target is now lowered to 5 hours in Field Service, "not worrying about Bible Studies since only 1 out of 10 JWs have one" and RVs are reduced to a more honest 2 or 3 because the truth is most JWs don't have true RVs, their counting people have not told them "Get out of here, I have no interest in talking with you" as "Potential foot soldiers of business". If you present the truth to a "numbers based organization" with downward revised projections, everyone gets depressed and nobody wants to work!
You always go high when reporting numbers with MLM schemes or Pyramid Business structures. If you read this link, here's a part of two great articles:

Once a "publisher" lets go of any feelings of guilt for "embellishing" their reports it is open slather time!
I would stake my house on the FACT that I know of at least 30 in our cong that "round up" their reportable "Hours" and "Return Visits".
It is because our cong elders made it a BIG ISSUE to remind everyone with kids that they would "no doubt share the truth" with their kids at least 4-6 hours "PER WEEK" by both example and incidental conversations!
(my thought was "well, that's just normal interactions like "when you walk on the road, when you lie down, when you get up" as moses said)
So basically we have ones counting 15-20 hours per month, who only actually go out ONCE in the month!
We have also had three brothers appointed because their "field service time was exemplary", yet I know they only go out once a month.
As always, in this org, IT IS ALL ABOUT OUTWARD APPEARANCES!

The whole thing is fake. There are nowhere near 8 million jokehovian witlesses that, according to official doctrine, are attaining salvation. Between fake time slips, going out only because they have to, and those scumbags that are simply in it to ruin others' lives, I would assume fewer than 2 million left if you subtract these out. -

I'm not too sure they could. I think a lot of us fail to realize how much they probably spend each month. Yes time and resources are donated but these guys spend money like idiots.
They are renovating KH, building headquarters, updating all Walkill buildings, printing, expenses, Bethelites etc...
They got use to spending how much is currently coming in. They have to do quite a bit of scaling back to be able to survive with only 1-2 million JW's.

The thing is there's probably more then 2 million but they are probably having to survive as if there was only this amount. Most JW's donate very little if anything at all.
