Crazy Comments

I love the people who go to my congregation. They are sweet, friendly, and lovable. (Which is one of the things that makes being awake so much easier.) But elderly ones and the sweet friends who are "a little off their rocker", always give the most epic comments. Here are some I can remember.

Dealing with the BIBLE account of circumcision: "Paul had to talk to the Governing Body in NEW YORK in order to know what to write in his letters." (She may have meant Antioch, but it was still funny non-the-less.)

The WT conductor on the talents: "If you don't think 20 talents is a lot of money... well...then keep it to yourself." Said jokingly and laughter ensued.

Before the redesigned website and apps: "If you can run an iPad, then you can run a bible...because they both require fingers!"

Crowning moment of JW droning: "It's better to be wrong WITH the organization, than being correct on your own."

What are some of the best "comments" you've heard? I'll keep jogging my memory. I should write these down when I hear them!

I've kept track of a few of them.

Said by an elder in a comment on a WT study about elders as shepherds: "Jehovah is the first shepherd. Jesus is the second shepherd. But they can't do anything without the other shepherds." Oh, really?

Another elder: "Jesus commanded us to not forsake the gathering of ourselves together." Jesus said that???

By a brother: "We get to Jehovah through the elders." Hmm. No, we get to God through Christ.

By a visiting speaker during his public talk: "Demons are homosexual." Picked jaw up from floor on that one.

By an elder: "Christendom doesn't teach the ransom, or teaches the ransom is paid to Satan." Well, which is it? Do they teach it or not? Incidentally, I did research this. The ransom is a primary teaching of Christianity, known as the Ransom Theory of Atonement. One major view (but not the only one) is that the ransom is paid to Satan. Crazy comment, nonetheless.

By a brother in a talk: "Abiathar was high priest, kind of like the governing body today." Oh? I thought Christ was the high priest. Who knew?

HP: "It's better to be wrong WITH the organization, than being correct on your own."

Yeah, I've heard that one before. All I can say is this: Well that is just so stupid!

I will never forget when we were studying the Creation book at the book study. The reader kept pronouncing "organism" as "orgasm" over and over again throughout the same paragraph!

" and St peter was out side warming himself by a warm brassiere ".. (brazier)

alexander the great formed his men into a unit called a parallax (optical term ) he meant phalanx.

As humorous as these are they reveal once more result of poor education.

Now that's funny, sounds like something Archie Bunker would say when he always mispronounced certain words

Several years ago we had a creepy visiting brother give a public talk and he made this statement regarding the dangers of the internet from the platform:

"I would never have Internet access in my home. I would spend all my spare time looking at pornography."

Wow ........ the last time a "very good friend" would even talk to me, said "Even if they are wrong .....I would never leave!"

They do sound a lot like Archie Bunker ...especially when he said "last will and testicles!" haha

    Ohhh well ...

"He didn't rely on the governing body, rather he just 'thought' himself OUT of the truth"
