I am not a "born in" but can relate to the experiences and how I raised my children in the cult.
Very well done. I thought it was balanced.

I look forward to seeing this vid.
I suggest that you shop it to CBC Canada, as they have two spots every week for documentaries, and it would have a good chance of being shown on national TV in Canada. That may not be profitable, but after the film fests, etc., and the buzz dies down,,, a free offering on public broadcasting networks such as the CBC would be AWESOME. :D

Has anyone else watched this yet? There are plans to translate it into different languages, and also to screen it worldwide on Christmas day.
Could be an effective anti-witnessing tool, or a way to explain to family who were never JW's what it was like for you?

It's difficult to recover from being in an organisation that insists it isn't a cult yet bears many cult characteristics. It's difficult to share or explain to members of other religious groups, or health or other professionals. It can be difficult to sort out in your own head.
A documentary Truth be Told went on digital release on 19 Dec. Directed by New York filmmaker and ex Witness Gregorio Smith, it's an exceptionally balanced and informative doco for anyone who is curious about what life in the JWs is really like. Based on in depth interviews with six ex Witnesses, plus staged insights into Kingdom Hall doctrine, the doco is currently being translated into a score of languages for international distribution as an important cultural document and fascinating viewing for anyone curious to understand more about the JW sect/cult/religion.

Just finished downloading and plan to watch it now. I'll post later this evening as dubby daughter will be home about the time the movie ends. :)
