The old argument that "I was just following the direction from my superiors, or I acted in all honesty according to what I thought was correct" was used by high up leaders in the nazi regime. "Oh, I was just following orders"
Hmmm...same with Elders...If they teach something that proves to be blatently WRONG, then they just say "oh we were honestly teachings what we thought was correct and following the direction from the GB org above"
