you will find some who will swear up and down that we are in the time of the end.

LOL It's Sunday morning here right now and you can turn on several T.V. stations and hear exactly that for 3 or 4 hours.
Trinity Broadcasting Network, Paul etc. can't open his mouth hardle without saying it.
There are several that preach that.

The big difference I think with JW's is how much we were taught to focus and dwell and live everyday LITTERALLY as the end of this system of things.I think in that aspect they got just a tad carried away.

Rather then being taught to view each day as though it were the last days in the sense that we should take each and everyday and treat it as something prescious and make the most of it we were taught to do just the oppisite by treating each and everyday as though it has no value because were living in a system that will be destroyed anyway.

My family is a grab bag of religions and out of all of them the only ones who do believe in the trinity are the mormons. I have two mormon Reverands (I think there called Rev.s) well thats how thier listed in the phone book.
My Youngest uncle is a Baptist preacher with a little church in N.Cal. they do not believe in the trinity.
I have an aunt who is also Baptist but a different sect who also does not.

Most of my friends and relitives who are Baptist do not. However I did have one neighbor who was Baptist who did believe in the trinity.
Other then that the only other people in my family that believe in the trinity are the Catholics and they ALL do. None in my imediate family but most of our in-laws are Catholic and Penicostle or Born again. With a few other's sprinkeled around.

What really makes the whole watchtower house-of-cards fall is their unfounded belief that Jerusalem fell in 607BCE. This is the foundation for their 1914 date and time of Christ invisible return and selection of watchtower, etc.

If you can get a J'dub to do some 'outside' research on the subject, chances are they will start to have serious doubts.

Plmkrzy-->ALL organized religion is unscriptual. Why don't you start there? <<

Good idea and also point out the verse the Watchtower has distorted for years .. the famous "where shall go to .. "

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
    John 6:68

All this time it pointed to a person (Christ) "whom" and never to a religion (to where). There is a big difference between "to whom" and "to where"

ps.. there are a few good books found in most libraries called "How to be the perfect stranger: A Guide to Etiquette in Other People's Religious Ceremonies Ed: Arthur J. Magida

They are very informative and cover the basics of many different denoms and religions.

    1. Are there other religions who put emphasis on preaching?

    Yes , there are many.

    2. Are there other religions who have similar beliefs, for example teachings such as the immortal soul, hellfire, earthly kingdom. etc? The favorite argument of witnesses is that they are the only ones who teach those things.

The WT religion is unlike others (I won't say all others) mainly because they think that they can earn their way to heaven. This is THE fundamental rift that can't be patched over. In this light they simply can't understand the scriptures - and never will.

It forms the irreconcilable position - that the gift is somehow earned, and deep down ther's a belief that they actually deserve it (pride). Do they ever really mean "Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof"? (after all that service?)

The irreconcilable position is that of joining the image of a beast - an unreal dictator. They actually think Jesus descended to hell and preached condemnation there (of course they were bad - unlike themselves). Such a bizarre fear-biting nature should be corrected in an animal let alone a person.

It's the same position held by Esau and Judas - sorry for loss. They lost in an imaginary deal, because they didn't perform as good as they thought they had to for earning heaven, and couldn't cope with the loss. They never got it - just like the wtbts.

Nothing will repair the place while that is there, and it's founded on it.

I have a friend who was a Southern Baptist and became a Mennonite because of his pacifistic beliefs...I think he said the Mennonites (along with the Quakers) don't believe in going to war. Although I do believe in WWII those religious consciencious objectors served in non-combatant roles....medics, etc. (As a kid I would hear stories from my parents about our next door neighbor who served as a medic as a C.O. in some of the most horrendous battles in the South Pacific).
