Anyone know how to stop a tax levy/wagegarnishment??

    1. Pay the bill?

    2. Drop dead?

    3. Ask the IRS?

Yeah, that's it! Ask the IRS!

Contact the IRS and request that a Taxpayer's Advocate be assigned to your case.

Since you mention garnishment, sound like your check is being affected, but usually when they reach that point don't they give you several chances to make some kind of payment arrangement ?

    Get a lawyer or CPA

    Pay the bill...

You need help from a lawyer specializing in tax issues. Act ASAP, because interest will continue to accrue until your account is settled.

By the time you get a wage garnishment, you've already blown your opportunity to make things better. You should have responded to the first notice, not responding really chaps them off. Even if you can't pay the entire bill on time, always file the return on time because you avoid the failure to file penalty. If you are making regular payments, any taxing body is less likely to serve a garnishment on you and more likely to allow you to make a payment plan. If you dispute the amount of tax they say you owe, you should consult a CPA to see if you are still able to file an amended return or present evidence that the tax isn't actually due.

I'm a retired accountant. You have not yet blown your chance to move toward resolution, but you need to act. Call the IRS IMMEDIATELY and tell them you want to get on an installment plan. You may have to fill out some forms documenting your income. If you tell them you can pay enough each month (no I'm not sure how they calculate this) they will just accept the plan, there is another form you have to fill out.

Pray to Jehovah he will fix it, if not remember he can resurrect. So you may have a better life in the future. But have faith that he will fix it for you now and if he does not then you must of prayed wrong.
