    1873 [Six thousand Years of man's existence ends in A.D. 1873] {WR Apr 1880 88}

    1873 "Here we furnish the evidence that from the creation of Adam to A.D. 1873 was six thousand years. And though the Bible contains no direct statement that the seventh thousand will be the epoch of Christ's reign, the great Sabbath Day of restitution to the world, yet the venerable tradition is not without reasonable foundation.. If, then, the seventh thousand-year period of earth's history be an epoch specially noted as the period of Christ's reign, we shall, by showing that it began in A.D. 1873, be proving that we are already in it." {TIAH 1915 ed 39-40} Truth is at Hand}

    1873 "Thus the Word of God corrects the few slight errors which have crept into it by any means.. God has so guarded his Word that the few trivial errors of copyists are made very manifest, and the full harmony of his Word gives ample foundation for faith .. So, then, whereas Usher dates A.D. 1 as the year 4005 from the creation of Adam, it really was, as we have shown, the year 4129, according to the Bible record, thus showing the year 1872 A.D. to be the year of the world 6000, and 1873 A.D. the commencement of the seventh thousand-year period, the seventh millennium, or thousand-year day of earth's history. {TIAH 53-4Truth is at Hand}

    1873 "The Bible chronology herein presented shows that the six great 1000 year days beginning with Adam are ended, and that the great 7th Day, the 1000 years of Christ's Reign, began in 1873." {TIAH 1916 ed Foreword 2

    THE ABOVE is the 1st time they were wrong about this.

    Anybody want to guess the 2nd time?

    1972 "Jehovah, the God of the true prophets, will put all false prophets to shame either by not fulfilling the false prediction of such self-assuming prophets or by having His own prophecies fulfilled in a way opposite to that predicted by the false prophets.
    False prophets will try to hide their reason for feeling shame by denying who they really are." {PRTM 353-4}

    1972 "From Adam's creation to the end of 1943 A.D. is 5,971 years .. We are therefore near the end of six thousand years of human history" {TMYF 152}

    Their interest has been kindled by the belief that 1975 will mark the end of 6,000 years of human history since Adam’s creation.

    That means, in the fall of the year 1975, a little over seven years from now ..., it will be 6,000 years since the creation of Adam, the father of all mankind!

    "A truth presented by Satan himself is just as true as a truth stated by God. . . . Accept truth wherever you find it, no matter what it contradicts" (WT 7/1879, pp. 8-9). Charles Taze Russell

    Charles Sunutko's "Stay Alive 'to 75":

    Well, we don’t have to guess what the year 1975 means if we read the Watchtower. Because the Watchtower has been very explicit as to what the year 1975 means to us.

    If you wish to write down the page, 262, in the [May 1] 1967 issue of the Watchtower, we read:
    What does the year 1975 mean for humankind? The end of 6000 years of human existence, and possibly, [voice raising dramatically] the time when God executes the wicked and starts off a thousand-year reign under his son Jesus Christ. End quote.

    The above is the SECOND TIME they were wrong about the same thing!

    How is this not blatant stupidity?

    How is it not blasphemy for dragging God into 2 false prophecies?

    I'm pretty sure that every Wednesday when the gb and jehober sit down to discuss things, that they all agree that they have a good thing going, so why screw it up by ending it! Tell the end is soooooooooooon but never really end it!

    O-----and old Charlie Sunutko is still giving DC/RC talks! lol

    just saying!

    Thanks, Terry!

    And, good to see my List is doing what I designed it to do - help prevent vectoring of this foul Watchtowerinanity Disease.

    One small note - my acronym "TIAH" stands for "The Time Is At Hand", the 2nd volume of Russell's "Studies in Scripture" sextuplet (plus one bastard addition, "The Finished Mystery", claimed to be posthumously written by him in order to bolster Rutherford's position and to help dodge the draft. And thus not for "Truth Is At Hand". You will find, in most places where the List resides (should be all!) a list of abbreviations - for example, at the bottom here:

    I made up my own abbreviations rather than adhere to the WTS's own incomplete and idiotic ones (e.g., "g" for Awake!, chosen as it was the successor to The Golden Age, the most idiotic of all the Watchtower publications - and that is saying something, lol!

    Now, here's a pretty picture of one bit of Bethelic stupidity from which the Gibbering Baboons did manage to learn:

    The salmon-eyed among you will notice one activity that they have never again pictured in their picturorgasms about "Paradise Earth" (TM Watchtowercult). They showed it here, got WHACKed and never did it again.

    It is possible to train the G.B. to perform some basic functions (e.g., Toilet-cleaning) but honestly it isn't worth the effort.

    Much better to get them and oneself to a "theocratic nation" and deal with them theocratically - as prescribed in Deut. 13:6-11. Be sure to use only small stones so as to make it last.

    I doubt it was stupidity that caused them to make the same error. Rehashing the 6,000 year idea got them many results that they were seeking. This included increased hours in field service, higher numbers being recruited and an expectation that drove the Witnesses on. They also sold many more books and magazines than they otherwise would have done.
