What is this wall like brick and mortar that separates

your proud heart from mine contrite and broken?

At one time -- I recall so very well -- your soul

and spirit were joined in joy to mine.

You are near me -- how clearly I see you --

yet your eyes are miles away . . .

So, too, your wandering heart that

    has left mine destroyed. . . .

I continue perplexed that some individuals are swayed by neither love nor reason to forgive and forget . . .

Poets have a way to frame everything in the language of maximum glow or glum.

I'm not a poet so I invest as little as possible in words.

I simply say "tough shit" at some point and it all goes away.

No need to even get drunk.

    But, I am grateful

    there are people

who know how to use language so well.

Perhaps that's how they get to the "tough shit" stage.

Thanks, scotoma, for seeing both sides.

I'm more at the tough shit stage of life now -- can't go on pining and moaning forever!

Writing is a release. I could never be simple or straightforward in my manner of speaking and writing.

    Best.

    Ok great!

Im outside sipping my scotch after finishing a few puffs...listening to some " best chinese bamboo flute zen" music and read this...I said to myself wow...took another sip, and thought, I feel really great right now and will live in this moment...and see what comes next!

Coco, your words resonate deeply in my heart. I miss my children greatly ... their mother has poisoned their soul and the cult has destroyed what was left.

Thank you, NotNew and Oubliette, for comments particularly meaningful to me. !

I, too, am 1) living in the moment and 2) rueing the poisoned thinking against which the most sincere love cannot prevail.

    You have said it!

    With gratitude,

Now that, villagegirl, is what many of us would love to hear!

CoCo... that's exactly how I felt when my ex husband and I started our freefall to the end of our marriage. No amount of love npr reason worked to motivate that man to forgive me , himself and move our marriage forward. I've since moved on, but now my baby girl is feeling the hurt and pain in your poem.

If it's a child of yours that's hurting you in this way, idk if I could move on. I would be eternally destroyed.

I hope you find peace soon.
