First it was the holy spirit that appointed elders, then they began abusing children, so then they had to say its the Body of Elders that appoint elders. Then they abuse even more children and now they are claiming its the CO's fault.

    So.....

WHO ACTUALLY DOES APPOINT THE ELDERS AND MINISTERIAL SERVANTS?

    It's all man made.

    The religion.

    The VISIBLE organisation.

    The rules.

    The doctrines.

    The titles.

    The lables.

    The positions.

    The decisions.

    The behaviour.

Sure I believe God does appoint people, but there is no announcement, no title, no fanfare, no hierarchy, no clergy class, no human selection/discussion/endorsement.

Being appointed an elder was my first step on the path of waking up to the fact that it is a cult. The elders meetings were all about policy and not scripture. The elder body was not united but full of ambitious egotists. There was no sign of anything spiritual. It was a sham.

No one appoints elders. If you have elders in your family and you're male you will be an elder. If not and you are a good suck up to all the elders and their families, you will become an elder. WT need company men for there management roles. Just like cantleave said, if you follow policies before the bible you will be an elder.

I can tell you for a fact....holy spirit has nothing to do with appointments!

I won't go into details, but there is no way many I know (including me) should have been appointed due to things that were going on (that were completely opposite to WT ideals......)

    Is this a serious question?

As far as the Organization goes, I am sure they still consider this as "spirit appointed". But they mean this more in the sense of the arrangement itself. God's Organization is spirit directed (or so they say) and therefore, the arrangements within the Organization or considered to be directed by holy spirit. If a man is meeting the scriptural qualifications for an overseer as set out in the Bible (considered to be spirit directed), then it is said that he is appointed by holy spirit. Of course, there is a margin of error due to imperfect men being involved in the decision making. The appointment change isn't CO's appointing elders, its CO's, as representatives of the Governing Body, making the decision based on the recommedation of the elder body of the congregation. The only change is that the CO no longer needs Headquarters rubber stamp of approval, the CO has been given the ability to make the final decsion.

    CO's.

No such thing as holy spirit appointing anyone.

Let the green handshakes and brown nosing begin!

Todays paragraph in the WT about the MS who was appointed while an avid Porn watcher proves it....

Plus appointments should be based on the qualities in 1 Timothy and Titus correct? so what does things like "is he actively SEEN in the field service" a consideration? Or "does his family answer at meetings"....how is this in line with scriptural qualifications?
