It's funny, when I started betting the ponies I realized
that those old western movies where the cowboy would
ride all day at full speed on his horse, out running the law
was a bunch of crap. A horse running 30-40 miles an hour for
a mile and a half is incredible.
Yet another 'red' (aka chestnut) horse is the winner.

Riding a horse is one of the most dangerous activities a person can engage in. It is also very thrilling. When I was 10 I so wanted to be Ron Turcotte, Secretariat's jockey. Sigh! Hats off to Victor and California Chrome -- it looked like there was some good competition out there.
