I think I need to add it to my reading list, especially after watching this video (language warning)

I learned about Lilith in college. Jewish feminists promoted her over Eve. I identified with her more than Eve.. There are Lilith Festivals here. A gf attended. She was upset b/c she heard that Lilith can't be traced earlier than the Middle Ages. Both of us were bummed out. I plan on attending the next Lillith workshop.

I believe the first known writings of "Lilith" occur in ancient Sumerian tablets, although there is some controversy. I think there are tons of tablets that have not been deciphered yet. Since we know the Bible is a Jewish book that re-tells long forgotten events, it's hard to say with certainty who Lilith was, or is. Some say that Lilith is the favorite wife of Enki. Enki is said to be the creator of humans. Enki has been labled as "Satan" by Christianity. That's about all I have read about the subject.

In the beginning God created man and woman. Male and female he created them. Adam & Lilith so the story goes. Then she acted up and wouldn't take a "submissive" role as a lesser creature so somewhere along the line she was banished and forgotten - then God put Adam to sleep and took a rib and formed Eve who would be submissive, as she was bone of his bones and flesh of his flesh. She was simply an extension of him.

    It's really rather fascinating.....
